Removing old rear corvette badging adhesive

1 Attachment(s)
Last time I had the car out, when I got home I noticed my rear "corvette" badge between the tail lights half detached. The old adhesive is fossilized of course, and I'm quickly losing hope on an easy way to remove the old adhesive from the paint.

I removed the badge without difficulty (you do have to be cautious, as the badge is thin in some spots, and can bend and twist), and cleaned up the back easily with a dremel and a little hand sanding.

Now the hard part. Tried wd40, and goo gone, forget it, that stuff is ON there. Thinking of taping the area off and going at it with a razor blade, a little at a time, but if there are better ideas, would love to know about them.

I have removed old, crusted adhesive residue from painted surfaces by rubbing paste wax into the residue to the point of saturation then leaving it to "soak in" overnight then applying heat with a halogen light placed closely while rubbing the area clean with a microfiber towel.... slow and tedious but worked well enough for me with multiple attempts.
