Fun in the ZR-1

Recently recorded a bit of fun in my 1993, #135, ZR-1. Those that follow the Facebook site will have already seen this. See link below.

Cool vid, thanks for the share!

Does she have any mods (sounds like it!)?

I do not have contact with the prior owner that did the mods that I know of. I am the 6th owner I believe. But what I know is:
Headers
No cats
X-pipe
Borla muff
Z Industries chip
4:10 gears
Open air cleaner lid with a KnN filter
Relocate MAT sensor
Throttle body coolant bypass
Thanks for watching the vid.

Thanks for sharing.

Any thoughts on having 4:10s versus something like 3:73s? I?d think you would be driving some highways and 6th gear is more usable with a change from the stock 3:45s. I would be interested in your thoughts on this. Thanks.

The car had the 4:10?s when I got it. So I can?t offer a comparison to the stock gearing. Cruising in 6th gear on highways is fine, no issues. I do think they reduce gas mileage some but otherwise no noticeable issues. If I were to need to redo the gears I think 3:73 would be a better choice for all around street, play, and track use.

Re: Fun in the ZR-1

My opinion. I think a lot of owners would agree, 3:73 gears in even a lightly modified ZR-1 is a complete waste. I made that mistake myself. It is not a big enough change from stock to notice the difference. 4:10 gears is the best way to go, in a stock, lightly, or more modified Z. You'll feel the difference in all gears. 6th gear becomes more useful on the interstate, even though the car will run cooler in 5th gear at speeds 75 or below. Ask around I haven't heard of anyone suggesting 3:73's anymore.

Thx for the feedback on the rear gearing.
