Cockpit!
 

I've seen questions about why the driver's side armrest and passenger side are different colors (on the non-black interior cars at least). The answer as most probably know is to give the impression that the driver is in a "cockpit" of sorts. I ran across this photo in the for-sale section, which really seems to emphasise the cockpit concept. I guess because of the red contrast against the black and the angle this shot was taken, the cockpit concept just seems to be more apparent in this photo than I've noticed before.

I have a Red on Red car so I know what you mean. I've been asked about the difference in the doors before and have had to explain the concept. One more unique thing about our cars.
