Removing knock sensor connector
I'm having a heck of time removing the knock sensor connector off the knock sensor. I can get my hands on it but won't come off. Is there a trick to it or I just have to pull harder?

Squeeze together the narrow section of the outer plastic shell and it will release

Re: Removing knock sensor connector
I got the old knock sensor out but I can't get the new one to start. I don't have a lift so I jacked up the side of the car as far as I can. I'm having to use the 7/8 socket to install it and the extension is pretty heavy due to the larger size extension and it's wearing me out because of the damage to the my left shoulder. I'll keep doing it but this is going to take a while.

If I remember correct, manual calls for 14 ft-lbs. Please check the manual and verify torque spec. Inaccurate torque and readings to ECM may not be correct.

I'll do that after I get it installed which is the primary problem at the moment. Roy |

I got the knock sensor in but it got real hard to tighten up and took it out. It went only part way up. So I looked at the old one and it shows that it was only part way also. I guess the question is this: are they only supposed to go part way up and or was the threads stripped somehow?

Re: Removing knock sensor connector
Well, learned something new today. Apparently, you don't run the knock sensor all the way up to the engine. It only goes in so far and stops. I had it in right and I removed it because I thought that I was cross threading it. Now I'm having issues putting it back in. At least, it's in my garage, I'm retired and I can work on it on my leisure.
