1991 ZR-1 #1648!!!
 

After MUCH too long of a break from Corvette ownership, I am happy to say that I?m a part of the family again! The important specs: 1991 ZR-1 in Bright Metallic Red with black interior & only 20,500 miles?#1648.

I found the car on BAT and after a 40 minute call with the owner, I got to bidding. I was the high bidder at the end, but unfortunately was short of the reserve price?fortunately for me, the sellers son called me that night and said ?mom and dad want you to have the car if you still want it?. So a few days later it was in my garage! Near perfect exterior and interior, with full records from both owners prior to me. Seller even sent numerous best in show awards/trophies that the car has won over the years, car cover, set of Etoille wheels, targa truss bar, service manual, and a few other Corvette themed goodies. He even has the original gatorback tires that I just need to arrange shipping for!

As with any 30 year old car, there are a few flaws I?ll be working on correcting, mostly common ones that I?ve found on here. AC is cool, but not cold (still R12), radio doesn?t work, and there is an occasional grind when putting in first gear. It was also missing the solid top, so I?ll be trying to chase one of those down too.

Beautiful car! I saw it on BaT as well - looks very clean! The dark red is such a cool color - sounds like you got some cool momentos for it, too. I see you've already fixed the wheels :D It's definitely cool to have the original tires. I like to have all the original parts and pieces just because. Congratulations, enjoy it!

I was wondering how long it would take for someone to mention the wheels from the BaT auction 🤣 The tires that it had were 10+ years old and pretty cracked, so new tires and putting the wheels in the correct side was the immediate task when it got here.

Ha! I only brought it up as a jab toward all of those who commented about it in the auction itself. I don't see the point of negativity like that in the auction. It's really silly... some people comment just to look important.

What tires did you get?

Yeah, some of the comments on there were pretty ridiculous. I wanted Nitto 555 G2s, but the fronts were out of stock everywhere. Ended up with M/T Street Comps. Don't have much to compare them to, but they are awesome!
