There is a huge separation between polymer polish vs. (any?) true wax (paraffin or natural base), e.g., Carnuba.

Black is perhaps the most beautiful color WHEN IT IS CLEAN. But, THAT is the "rub": very hard to keep clean.

The acid test is a black car driven on a gravel road - especially in the summer. At issue is HEAT softens any wax - and a black paint in the summer sun gets too hot to touch with bare skin. Wax softens and becomes like flypaper for dust or pollen. The result is a haze and that crisp, eye-popping shine fades and may have a blueish haze in some light.

When I had my black (95 LT1/M6) I found I'd have to "Dawn" (wash) it and reapply several coats of various (carnuba) wax taking hours.

Well, I suppose some enjoy spending a few hours every weekend rubbing their cars. That's fine for them. But, I do not particularly enjoy it - and that black Vette really had to be pampered to look good - especially since I had a half mile drive on gravel to go anywhere!

Polymer polishes and nano-tech silicon oxide base polishes completely turned me around - far as paint care goes. Stripping w/ Dawn and clay baring with carnuba waxes went from one to (usually) two times a season to ONE every 4-5+ YEARS! But, polymers are NOT all the same. And, a lot of changes have occurred in the polymer/ceramic polish game in the last 15 years since I completely changed over to them

I still enjoy 'kickin' azz' in my Vette most of all. But, there's no reason I shouldn't want to look good while doing it!!! (And, it shouldn't be difficult to apply either?).

I have used Torque Ceramic on my red '90 and it came out amazing, looking like a new car. Airborne dirt and pollen just blow right off or come off with a light rinse of water. The water just runs right off too without leaving water marks. I have also used their waterless cleaner once and it also makes the car look like new. Both are very quick and easy to apply just with a clean microfiber cloth.
I recommend these but haven't used them long enough to see how long it will last, altho the company says to reapply the ceramic once a year.

This is exactly the kind of experience review(s) I am hoping to get. And, I appreciate the holding off on recommendation(s) until some time enough has passed to get a more comprehensive analysis.:thumbsup:

Paul, if you haven't already made the purchase, please check out the product "The Last Coat". Besides looking at their ads, I also looked at independent videos on YouTube. The Last Coat performed amazingly well in all tests. A couple of years ago, they updated their introductory offering, now sometimes known as (TLC2) and I have been reading a lot of great things about it.

I have now purchased the product, but haven't had time to use it yet.

Paul, based on your recommendation I went looking for details on Torque Detail and where to get it. I found a combination of rave and scathingly bad reviews.

Last year, with great expectations, I also tried Torque detailing products. Mine was a very disappointing experience . In my view this outfit puts more effort into clever product promotion than into actual product development. YMMV
