Haibeck 510 package
On that issue, 373 gears or 410? And aluminum flywheel or no? What's everyones experience. I'm getting ready to this in a few weeks

Re: Haibeck 510 package
Great choice, I would go 410, you will need 4th in 1/4 mile, only taching about 2200 at 75 mph, still good gas miles, stay away from alum flywheel due to noise from trans, some can be mitigated, you will give up a few HP without it

Re: Haibeck 510 package
I have 410's and stock dual mass and am very happy with them. Have thought about 373 as 1st and 2nd are short with the 410 but on the highway they are awesome and it pulls very well in 6th. You can't go wrong with either gearing and I also agree with PhillipsLT5 about the alum flywheel unless you do not care about the rattle.

Re: Haibeck 510 package
4.10s and Fidanza. However, I have 18/19in. Z06 wheels so tires turn as if I have ~3.55 gear. 80mph@~2100rpm.
Fidanza rattle is only there at neutral idle, albeit good trans oil helps quell that along w a good tune. |
Re: Haibeck 510 package
We got both 4.10 gears and lightweight flywheel in our 470 HP car, and even if there is some rattle the quick response the flywheel gives outweighs the noise for me.

Re: Haibeck 510 package
I also have Marc's 510 package and love it.
I do have the transmission noise that comes along with the light weight fly wheel. The noise in neutral is not that bad and doesn't bother me. What can be more aggravating at times is the noise that my car experiences that comes about under low rpms and/or light load applications. Just cruising or going down the road at a steady state speed under 2,x00ish rpm and the transmission noise isn't the most pleasant. I haven't come to a conclusion yet about whether I would rather have the quick free revving nature of the light flywheel or the quiet of the dual mass unit. Not too much of a problem if you keep the rpms higher, but I don't always drive the car that way. Marc mentions on his website that Redline transmission oil mitigates much of this. My 510 package was done in 2014. I wonder if Marc used the Redline at the time of my modifications? I will have to ask about this. Regardless, I love my 510 package. |

I have the Fidanza and love it - especially in the lower gears (where rpms increase is quickest). I have the Nitto 555R (drag radials) on the car and on clean warm pavement they'll grip pretty well if the clutch is all the way out to begin with - pure throttle (in other words). Marc set my idle at 850ish so it has no rattle in spite of the Fidanza, tho too I have stock cams. I LOVE the Fidanza. I have the stock 3.45 gear, BTW.
Ami's (514 HP Z (with a 410 gear), also has the Fidanza. But, with Pete's reground cam overlap the trans rattles like a "box of rocks" at idle in neutral. But, with the B&B 3" exhaust, the rattle mitigated to the point it is barely noticeable from inside the car at least.:) On the street with the stock rear (3.45) gear, the least bit aggressive start in 1st gear and traction becomes "iffy" - even with a heavy throttle only rev through the tach, the 555R Nittos will break. Ami's Z with (essentially) the same HP and tires, but with the 410s is a different story. It will break traction on warm, dry pavement regularly at will in 1st gear w/o involving the clutch. 2nd gear on the street w/ the 410s is just too much shifting, so the 1-3-5 shifts is normal for her car...and pretty much the same for my 3.45 gear as well, come to think of it. Anywayz....I love the Fidanza with either the 3.45 or the 410 gears, tho I agree too that a 373 or 390 might be "perfect" for me. In any case, the Fidanza stays! AND, if running the mountain twisties is your thing too, and/or running beyond the 1/4 mile trap speed, the 3.45 (I find) is quite excellent. (I can run the "Tail of the Dragon" mostly in 2nd gear - keeping right on top of the torque curve. |
Re: Haibeck 510 package
Wasn?t Lingenfelter?s preferred gear a 3.91 for the ZR? Anyone recall?
