A question about dropping the exhaust?
I'm going to drop the exhaust to install the Hurst shifter and BB C Beam plates, what gaskets will I need at the exhaust collectors?

Re: A question about dropping the exhaust?
The right side is slip on and clamped. The left side is swaged on the rear pipe to mate with the header-cat oversize taper. Behind that swaging is a 3 hole clamp and 3 bolts tighten this clamp with the threaded header-cat flange to snug the joint together. There is no gasket. Most "cat-back" aftermarket exhausts connected the same way but what you find on any particular zr-1 could vary widely.

It is 3 bolts into a threaded flange. Prep well wth penetrating oil or you might break one off. Just did mine a few days ago.

The flange on the cat is threaded. (Saving a thousand words)

Not so bad... worst case you drill the bolt out, rethread to next size, buy a new bolt.

Wasn't a problem on my '91 when I swapped to SW headers and exhaust..

Re: A question about dropping the exhaust?
When I did mine I just put a standard header collector gasket on it. Just for peace of mind...

Lately I have been dropping a lot of things; last night it was a tractor!
