Re: Engine Sound C7 ZR1
Hard to tell with the fabbed up decibel reducing adapt-a-kit exhaust notes Dom. No lie that's what GM engineering fabbed up on the exhaust flow to reduce the exhaust note which was exceeding the track area standards for noise abatement. GC

Don't hear the s/c whine anywhere....sounds like all motor...
All good motor...... |
Re: Engine Sound C7 ZR1
I hear a blower at 0:30 of the vid, theres some sort of barely helical gear meshing going in there.

Re: Engine Sound C7 ZR1
You can hear that supercharger whine about the 1:13 mark, and other times when he is getting on it.....its barely audible, but it's there. Wow what a job!!! And I've always wondered, what are those chalk marks all over the Ring?? Looks like graffiti

Re: Engine Sound C7 ZR1
I don't know guys. Maybe wishful thinking on my part. But any whine I hear on this vid could just as well be a trans. Because when he's really on it down the straight, I don't hear it. In some cases, tire squeal around the corners I initially thought may have been S/C. What about the exhaust note, although granted they're using Laguna pipes. In previous tours of the Ring, the C7Z didn't use them. What makes this motor so LOUD?
It wouldn't be unusual for GM to debut a new motor in a previous generation, then come out w a completely different car a year later. They did that w the Xfire in the C3 for 1982, then the 1984 C4 came out. |
Re: Engine Sound C7 ZR1
They are using the Laguna pipes setup to lower the DB levels

Re: Engine Sound C7 ZR1
You are never gong to hear the S/C noise over the exhaust with the bypasses open and the engine being run as hard as the driver (probably Jim Mero) is driving the car.
Plus, I think it's unlikely the 4G ZR-1's engine could make 750-hp and pass emissions without being supercharged or turbocharged. |
