Which x pipe?

I have the Borla Challenge system on my 91 ZR-1. I'm looking at replacing the resonator with an x pipe. Can anyone who has done this tell me which one you used and post pics if you can?

I'm not sure if this is entirely useful, but I replaced my Borla resonator with a Stainless Works X-Pipe.

I used the ZR-1.net Registry discount to buy the X-pipe (saved a little bit of money, but still a bit expensive since it's a quality piece). After I installed the OBX headers I took it all to a custom exhaust guy to install (so I can't comment on how well it slipped together).

I'm happy with it, but there is a bit of drone. Might be too much for many folks. Had to install a louder sound system. :-)

I used a MagnaFlow X pipe. I'm good with it.

I had the MF cat back w the integrated resonator/xpipe. Really liked the sound.
Not great for power but u pick ur poison. The problem I had w the MF system was the hangers. With torque, the metal on the muffs would rip.

Much cheaper then Stainless Works even with discount.
They have/make them for our ZR-1's.

The previous owner installed "true dual" exhausts with headers and Flowmaster's. Neighbors love me at 6 AM on Sunday while going to caffeine and octane. Down the road, thinking about installing X pipes. Other than less noise/drone, any other benefits with the X pipes?

Other than the savaging effect, you are spot on about drone elimination.

I changed mine for a small pop of power and a bit of sound. I have a 91 and the factory resonator is super restrictive. I changed my resonator at the same time I put in a Haibeck chip.

Frankly, I think the X factor is pretty mute until you hit the higher RPMs.

I have the same exhaust as you, the Borla Challenge, and also cut out the resonator and replaced with an X-Pipe. My drone increased dramatically. I don't know what brand of X-pipe it was. There was a seat of the pants power increase though.

Just my guess, but I wouldn't necessarily plan for less noise/drone from an x-pipe.

Maybe others who know can chime in, but I'm worried if that's what you're expecting, you might be disappointed.

My understanding (from reading stuff on the internet, so it has to be true), an X or H pipe balances the pressure pulses a bit and might help lower-end torque a little. I installed mine because the Borla resonator that was in place had a noticeably smaller inlet that looked restrictive (and I think Marc's test confirmed that).
