Re: Video Showing Syrian Refugees Causing Havoc in France
Agreed. It is a very complex problem with no easy solution (like a wall or rounding up everyone here illegally and shipping them back).
I heard an interesting statement today (not sure if it's true, but it's believable). To monitor a suspicious person (like those in Belgium that may be preparing terrorist attacks), it takes 7-8 personnel. In other words, if there are 1,000 suspiscious people in a terrorist database, it would take 7,000-8,000 people in agencies to keep an eye on thier actions. Sounds expensive, and makes it easier to understand why it's almost impossible to keep tabs on everyone who has been identified as a possible terrorist. Just think about how many suspicious people there must be in the US. And that's not even considering the effort to identify who might be a terrorist. My opinion (maybe not popular) is we should focus efforts on reducing things that make people want to do harm. Makes more sense to stop them before they decide to be terrorists. Of course, that's not easy, either. |
