Hello everyone,
1991 Z stereo has stopped working. The clock still provides a read out and when turned on the attennae still goes up and goes down when turned off. No functions are working on the stereo head however. I know about 5 years ago I pulled all the speakers, the head and he attenna box and sent it to someone to get rebuilt and it had worked well since then. It was working perfect 1 day then turned it on 2 days later wasn't working. Any ideas??

Does the Head unit show you turning in stations? does it accept CD and cassette and act like it is playing but there is no sound?

My guess is the CDM went bad, it is located behind the dash on your 91.. Passenger side, below the glove box, but only accessible from the bottom by removing the hush panel

it is easier to remove if the dash pad is removed as well

I agree,sounds like the CDM controller. Good luck getting it out.

I used these guys and was very happy with the service. I also added the I-Pod option.
