Momo steering wheel

Here's a photo of the Momo Tomcat & NRG quick release hub installation I installed on our 94 a few days ago. Sure looks and feels better than that butt-ugly oem wheel. Hardest part was getting that pesky c-clip that retained the airbag clock mechanism. All I need to do now is install the 2-ohm 5-watt resistor so the airbag light on the DIC will stay out.

Looks Great!

Re: Momo steering wheel

Clint - I believe the critical aspect of the resistor is the tolerance and it needs to be +/- 1%.

The ones I have are red, black, gold - gold and I've understood that to be 2.0 +/-1%.

What are your band colors putting the majority on the left? Mine I thought were 1/2 or .5 watt but I believe that aspect might not be critical.

Thanks for the compliment,Brad.

Dave, not sure I understand your question completely. The resistor I have is white and the resistance value is in black lettering.

OK it's a block style resistor. Is the tolerance printed on it also? I always thought that maybe a 5 watt resistor that's ceramic or block looking in appearance was +/-5%. The colors I mentioned are for small round resistors that are generally 1/4, 1/2 watt and the stripes decode the values and 1% I've always understood to be important in SIR defeat situations.

I thought maybe your 5 watt was a typo and you meant .50 and in that case it would have had banding codes.

Clint yours is a white block in shape... It is the one I would suggest you use..

Is there a particular reason why? I get mine from an SIR/AIR BAG service company that uses these and buys them maybe a couple hundred at a time. It's the only ones I've ever seen used and I don't know if I've ever seen a reference to the 5 watt for usage. The wattage of course shouldn't make a difference but I understand like I mentioned the tolerance DOES. Have you any first hand experience?

I always heard it was both wattage and tolerance, but I don't have first hand experience. If it were me, I would bypass the module if I could

You lost me,Jeff. Bypass what module and how?

Bypass the airbag module.. I removed it on the 91 dash I put in my 89
