Didn't make BG, but fun none-the-less...

Didn't make BG for that fun this year, but did get up with Fletch (user fletchusmc), to do some lagers and grub on Wed, then uncork some lead at the range on Thursday morning, with one of his girls.

Fletch's '95 is IMMACULATE. I didn't see a FLECK of corner jam in the dash or console, the door jambs were absolutely spotless, then at the range, he popped the hood. I saw nothing that would stop one from thinking he was looking at a new Z.

He unloaded once on the way TO the range, and I saw no oil, and no Black / fuel. His mill has a great burn...

We had the range to ourselves for most of the morning. 'Sure Shot', just outside MCAS Cherry Point NC.

Fletch with his daughter - she's on a 30.30 I believe, and it's obvious that it wasn't HER first day either. Not all the lead went through the same hole on the paper, but they were almost all TOUCHING, making it 'one big hole'. Great shooting. I had my notebook out ;) , and Fletch DEFINITELY should have had HIS notebook out

THis is Fletch on my Dad's .30 Carbine, that he carried in the early days of Viet Nam (got a snappic from a book with him + this rifle in the jungle, somewhere on the boards here)

Fletch spotting her on the same .30 Carbine (and she did NOT need a spot, except to get a good zero ! )

Me on a Rock-Ola .30 Carbine (this one has a 3 muzzle wear, and still is a tack driver):

Fletch's daughter on a new M1A / 7.62mm that I got last year (Black composite stock replaced with some beautiful OEM USGI woodwork, armorer's stamps and rack number to boot ;) ):

And some fresh grub on the hoof, a couple doors down back at the beachhouse (can you say 'veal tenderloin' ??? http://www.conceptart.org/forums/ima...ermade/yum.gif )

Definitely headed up his way soon to check out his Z. Few more photos to add here. This 30-30 was my Dad's. He got it in 1976 and prior to Thursday it had less than 2 boxes of ammo put through it. Once Kaylee started dinging that metal disk at 200 yards I just gave her the ammo and told her to have at it. Prior to Thursday the only rifle she had fired was a 22.

16.5 inch barrel, flat top, 7:1 twist, hammer forged barrel, bullpup configuration, plan to work the trigger down to 4.5lbs weight..

Is your dad's old VN weapon an SKS or varient, shooting 7.62x39?

They weren't that easy to take home, as I remember.

It's a .30 Carbine RC. Green Beret in early VN days were issued M2's, and M2A1's (paratrooper stock) - the select-fire version of WWII M1 Carbine. Lightweight and select fire made them favored over M14 MG and Thompson SMG.

Dad was career GB officer / unit commander, unit commander , unit XO ,(same thing John Wayne did in the movie) ; didn't have to declare 'Combat Loss', of issued weapon.

He's far left in this snappic, with the Carbine. This was an hour before he was hit in the foot. Color photo in hardback shows clearly. As a youngster, I always asked him if he got any bad guys. He once said he thought he'd gotten 4 (VC) once...
