Transmission Question

I have been experiencing a vibration between sixty and seventy miles per hour. I have been under the car checking thing out for looseness and play and dicovered the there is quite a of movement in the tail shaft and yoke of of the drive shaft . How much if any deflection is acceptable? Is there a bearing or bushing the tail housing that can be replaced?

Re: Transmission Question

Yes, I did recieve quite a bit of advise. I Spoke with Bill B. @ ZR51. I have ordered a new slip yoke that is supposed to be the same as the one used on the Grand Sport Drive shafts, gasket, seal and spicer u-joints. A friend of mine recently replaced his transmission after second gear sycro went out. He is giving me his old 40K mile unit. I'm going to remove the tail shaft housing and install it on my transmission, as a new housing is almost $500. Bill informed me on how to install a new bushing in my housing. I'm going to repair my old one, just to see if I can. I guess I will start removing exhaust and other pieces and get ready for the repairs to begin.
