A few fathers day gifts for myself.

I bought a Remington 700 SPS .300 Win Mag and a Leopold VX3 scope for an Alaskan hunting trip my dad and I are planning on. And three weeks after that I saw something I just had to have before I can't get one anymore. A Sig Sauer 516 Gen 2 AR-15 with red dot optics. It's a blast to shoot especially with 30 round magazines. Yep! That's the one the Dems are trying to outlaw. But it's to late. I got it.:fahne:
The Germans make an awesome tactical weapon. I love it.

The camo one is a Savage .17 cal HMR. After bringing those two home within a three week period I let my wife get her Louis Vuitton purse. It was only fair.:p

Nice arsenal you have there! Looks like you could reach out and touch somebody if they had it coming. :)

300 Winchester Mag is one hard hitting round! What is the effective range with that caliber ?

Is that a 50 cal on the right ?

I'd love to own a 50 cal., problem is the round never stops.

Maximum effective range is generally accepted to be 1210 yards (1097 m) with ammunition incorporating low-drag projectiles. Sub 1 minute-of-angle (MOA) accuracy out to 1000 yards (914 m) is not unusual in precision-built rifles firing match-grade ammunition. Velocity with a 180-grain projectile at max powder charge and 24" barrel is 2975 ft/s ±25 ft/s (907m/s ±7.6m/s).

Its the .300 win mag. A BMG .50 costs about $15k. Before I bought the AR-15 I was going to get a .338 Lapua. That is the one that holds the world record for longest kill from over 1.5 miles. But they had already sold it. Plus my gun range only goes up to 600 yards. Other than that I don't really know what else I'd use it for except target shooting at over 2500 yards. Not to mention that .338 Lapua rounds cost $6-8 per round. Very expensive gun to shoot unless you do your own reloads. The AR-15 on the other hand is chambered for 5.56X45mm Nato but will also shoot standard .223 hunting rounds also. But a rifle chambered for .223 rounds will not shoot 5.56X45mm. The recoil on the AR is very pleasant and won't knock your shoulder out of socket. My kids shoot it no problem. I have to admit that out of my fairly small gun collection I've started the AR is absolutely the most fun to shoot. In Texas we have no limit on high capacity mags. I've got 3 30 round mags for it. It is ready to rock and roll anytime. My wife and I are going to get our CHL soon.
