LPE 475: Should I Eliminate Secondary Stuff If Changing Injectors?????

Hi, I have a 90 LPE 475 Package ZR-1 I bought in January 2010. I was using it for a Daily Driver in 2010 & 2011. It started developing what feels like a miss when the secondaries kicked in. If I would turn the Valet switch off, the noise would go away. I scoured this board & pretty much decided to change both sets of injectors, as I think they are still original. Now, a couple of Questions:

1) What are the "best" injectors to use? I don't care about a couple of hundred $$$ difference.

2) Would I be wise to delete all the secondary stuff since I'll be in there?

3) Anything else I should be doing while I'm there?

This is a really cool car. It was John Benders car when he did "One Lap of America" (Came In 5th). When I bought it, the seller really did not know a lot about it. It had all "Bottom of the Page" stuff from Doug Rippie in it. This is a car I will imagine I'll keep forever & I don't have to comply to Emissions Testing. Thanks in advance.

I'm not the expert, but I'll chime in first.
The 1990 injectors will not tolerate the ethanol in fuel these days, that being said, do not buy GM injectors. Popular choice seems to be Fuel Injector Connection. Popular seems to be the SS, new. As opposed to rebuilt.
I have not done mine yet, maybe this winter. F.I.C. is where I'll shop.

Secondaries.
Some members have had some major engine issuses when the secondaries fall apart and you injest parts. This don't sound good to me.
Rumor has it, if you remove them, you'll loose a couple mpg.

With proper tuning shouldn't make any diff.

Mark Haibeck says pulling them does not result in any change in mpg or drivabililty and doing so eliminates a lot of potential headaches with vacuum leaks, parts injestion (infrequent), etc. Marc recommended that I pull them when he works on my car this winter and I plan to do so. -- Bob

Using links to the CF?

Don't you have the same links to your solutions on our forums? I'm confused

I doubt anyone would notice eliminated secondaries :p

........Adams, Armstrong, Bedford, Bradford, Butler, Cameron, Carbon, Clarion, Clearfield,
Clinton, Columbia, Crawford, Elk, Fayette, Forest, Franklin, Fulton, Greene,
Huntingdon, Indiana, Jefferson, Juniata, Lawrence, McKean, Mifflin, Monroe, Montour,
Northumberland, Perry, Pike, Potter, Schuylkill, Snyder, Somerset, Sullivan,
Susquehanna, Tioga, Union, Venango, Warren, Wayne and Wyoming counties.

if his mechanic is anything like mine they won't be checking to make sure the secondaries are still there. I didn't know there was an lpe car running around here, very cool

Most of us go with FIC. (www.fuelinjectorconnection.com). Stainless steel injectors

Then Jerry's gaskets. www.jerrysgaskets.com

Might want to consider doing coil packs and spark plug wires while you are there

I removed my secondaries and no issues. Need to retune and reprogram he chip.

David
