Mojave 1.5 Magnum Mile
I am going to run this, this weekend
Any tips? I have run several 1 mile shootouts before but now I will need to shift into 6the for 1.5 miles, I think it may slow down in 6th? My car has 422 RWHP, 4.10 gears, elevation is aprox 2700, high temp will be 90, wind 15 to 20(hopefully tail wind) My car ran the mile at 169.7, close to 7K in 5th My car ran the 1/4 mile at 118, close to 7K in 4th Dyno shows no more power gain after 7K So I am pulling 5th from 1/4 mile all the way to 1 mile, fun ride My car is tuned for 91 octane as that is all we can get out west, but race fuel will be available |
Re: Mojave 1.5 Magnum Mile
I would try to find a 3.42 center section/batwing to swap in there

Re: Mojave 1.5 Magnum Mile
Sounds exciting. I'll admit that I juust don't have the guts to do it.
When Rick Mueller had my 91, he did the Texas Mile with a speed of 170.281. He gave me the certificate with the car. Kinda neat. Good luck and be safe!!! |
Re: Mojave 1.5 Magnum Mile
Hi Phillip!
You'll have enough runs, run it both ways and see. Topped out in 5th, and shifting into 6th. Let us know. I'm jealous, mine is still up on jack stands, and not smogged yet. I'll miss this MM. Be safe and good luck to you and Jr! |
Re: Mojave 1.5 Magnum Mile
no time for rear end swap, 170 is real strong for a mile
new ZO6's doing 172/173, new ZR1's doing 175/176 |

Re: Mojave 1.5 Magnum Mile
I can not stay too long, maybe 10 sec at 6K or more due to water pump cavitation

Re: Mojave 1.5 Magnum Mile
I have a stock thermostat, fluidyne radiator, will not get to 5200 in 6th, but I am there for sure climbing in 5th, wiil the temp guage rise or oil temp rise or both rise?

Re: Mojave 1.5 Magnum Mile
Hey Phillip
I say no overheating: You will only be at the higher RPM's for a relatively short period of time compared to sustained high RPM's when going around a track. I would be more concerned with ballooning (is that a word?) the radiator at high pressures/RPM's but I think your/our systems can handle it. And remember, its only $$$$! |
