Here's a fun one.

After a nice three day weekend it's back to chaos manufacturing. I mean Shadow manufacturing.:-D Before my second foot made it in the door I was handed this from the owner.

And told the customer wants it by Friday. And that there's going to be five more with different configurations after that. I said you a funny guy. He smiles at me. Pats me on the back and says I know you'll take care of it. Grabs his coffee cup and leaves. Bastard!:-x I must admit that I do love my job even though it's flying by the seat of your pant's most of the time.

Nice burger John !

It's a very fancy shaft for the oil industry. Money is no object to them.

Oh no! Not at all. That shaft is just one of about 25 different jobs going through the shop. Production will begin on them sometime next week. Plus we just lost a guy on night shift. I gave up on trying to find journeymen machinists. They are non existent. So Ive lowered my standards and am taking on apprentices. I had two young very sharp guys 24 and 25the years old. Kenny and Kyle. Kyle has an MBA. But he said he didn't like working in it. He finds machining fascinating. Go figure. So Kenny quit to go work for his dad in construction. He's got a hot little girlfriend who has three kids from another dude. She doesn't work and every dime he makes goes to that. I guess he wants to be a dad at 24. So I offer my 23 year old nephew a job there. Tell him its a great opportunity. Says he's not interested. He said he'd have to get up to early in the morning. He'd rather deliver pizzas at night basically so he can hang out with the other 24 year old freeloader accross the street and smoke weed and play Xbox untill 4:00am. There must be an epidemic among 21 to 25 year olds to have no ambition in life and make the most azzbackwards decisions that one could possibly make. But as long as there's good ole grandma and grandpa to freeload off.
