This is a new from Mark Hibeck's website as to his recommendations.
http://www.zr1specialist.com/HAT%20W...ate%202011.pdf On the transmission oil change, be sure to remove the fill plug FIRST. If you remove the drain plug and can't get the fill plug out...then..... |

Re: I must be losing my mind :)
I just got mobile1 0/30w for about $6/qt at autozone. They have a special 5qts with a mobile1 filter for $33. They don't carry the mobile1 filter for the zr1 so you will need to buy a filter for another vehicle. I got filters for the next two oil changes on my 06tacoma. Still a great deal for what is normally $9/qt.

Re: I must be losing my mind :)
Oil Filter : Bosch 3401 filter or Mobil M1-207 filter or the Fram HD filter TG3985 take your choice.
Trans oil: Castrol TWS 10w-60 buy at BMW dealership only. It's M series motor oil. Or use Amsoil MTF synthetic trans fluid at their web site. 2.2 liters capacity, so you buy 3 liters the first time. http://www.velocitymotorcars.com/castrol.html just in case you don't have a BMW dealer near you these guys ship fast & are good to deal with. Rear Gear: I use the Amsoil stuff, but have used the GM stuff plus 2 bottles GM additive or you can use Mobil synthetic 75w-90 fluid and it don't need the additive. I can't remember the capacity, maybe a bit more than a quart or a bit less? It's in the owner's manual maintenance section I think? Tom |

Marc recommended 1/2 a bottle of GM posi additive w/ Mobil 1 75W-100. 2 X 1 liter bottles were sufficient. |
