HID Headlight Upgrade

I have researched into upgrading the headlights on my Z.
I see the top of the line setups use relays and ballasts/igniters
but are a little steep for me at $600+. (For Lights, Not For other Mods!) :fahne:
I then see everything from just replacing the bulb to
projector or prism enclosures. In between there are
just bulbs with new circuitry. I have read the write up
of supercharging the driving lights- not the way I want to go.
I also don't want to blind oncoming traffic.
Anyone have experience not replacing the enclosure but using
a HID bulb?
TIA

I did this upgrade on my 1990 Z

I used Hella Capsules and a new HID system. I upgraded both the headlights and the fog-lights. My stereo shop wired everything up and it works wonderfully except for one minor thing. When the fog-lights are on the high-beam indicator illuminates even when the headlights are not on or when they are on and set to low beams. The stereo shop states it is because of the lower resistance in the HID system causing it to illuminate. It does not bother me as I know when the HID high-beams are on just from viewing the road. They are like mini suns beaming a path of light...

Cost for me was $3-400 and well worth it.

Correct on the high beam light.. it is wired 'cheaply' in 91 they did it better.
