1988 LT5 Program Status Report

When I purchased EX5023 from Geoff, he gave me a lot of documentation. One such piece is a Project Status Report, dated Jan 1988. I have attached a copy of the index for review. This is quite a piece of LT5 history. One day, I might copy it. It's really interesting reading.

See Ya!

Wow, that is very interesting that the best BSFC is at 2,000 RPM, not the lower RPMs the car cruises at. Wouldn't that suggest a 4.10 car would get better cruising economy (though reality says otherwise)?

Also, they spelled "Program" wrong... :D

Started reading in depth and found some really interesting data. Engine development for each of the first 75 or so engines. Also a few sheets that show which vehicles were matched up with car PY numbers. Here are a few more pictures. Also data for failures and component failures as well. Even the report on the very first Phase1 engine produced.

THIS IS VERY COOL STUFF

Neat stuff.

It appears that the P8Y028 to P8Y046 are narrow bodied prototypes.

The only LT5 from the list of Engine numbers I have a hit for is LT5-018:

From AutoCheck:

UK Registration: D142FPW
Make/Model: Chevrolet Corvette
Color: Gold
Imported: 10/16/1986
Engine Number: LT5018

Read HOTB pages 86 and 87. It talks about a test drive to Sweden.

Would that car be the one that Keith Beschi has the remains of? He owns the yellow 86 with the Phase1 engine.
