Car runs hotter after tume and header install.
Pulled the radiator out and pressure washed all the junk out of it. It was filthy and we thought we figured out the car running hot problem. After re-assembly, car ran same as before. Sits about 200 F (Digital gage) if driving normal with no AC. Add AC and it climbs to 220. Hammer on it at all and it jumps to 224. Turn off AC and it drops back down in a few minutes. Both fans working properly.
Three questions: Does the digital water temp and the gage use the same sensor? (Gage and digital seem to match, so I was thinking that was confirmation I was indeed running hot, unless I have a bad common sensor) Do I need a lower temp t-stat? Is a collapsing hose causing this? Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks! |

My car with stock ratio (3:45) in 6th gear at around 65 will be just around that temp (200d or so). Shift to 5th at the same speed and the temp drops to 192d. I've never checked with AC on so can't tell you about that. Three questions: Quote:

Re: Car runs hotter after tume and header install.
Your description matches my all stock car.
It is not going to be that way long-- just ordered a SRP 165HD thermostat. I have them in my other cars. I do not like the stock car temps. Not to say everything is 100% with your system but your car seems similar to mine. One question, 5th (not 6th) on the freeway steady state around 192-195? higher RPMs of 5th will lower it under 200.
