Check this video out. Nelson has been up to something pretty trick. Tell me that doesn't look like it has LT5 heritage? We could all pool our money and still couldn't afford one, but it does elicit drool.

I bet the cylinder heads are interesting. Billet too?

That is a billet LT5 block thats all there is to it.

Give credit where credit is due. Very cool to see someone embracing the LT5 though.

I seem to recall a couple of years ago, Nelson saying they were going to produce a billet LT5 block. Somewhere along the way, they decided to call it their own. Funny haw it uses the 375 front cover version, the same crankcase vent box, probably the same starter, looks like the same primary/secondary cam chain idler sprockets.

Yep, it's still a LT5 billet block with a few mods. All in all a very nice piece!!

He used the cross bolt mains from the LS motors. Nice piece!!!

looks like very small updates to a LT5 to me.

This engine is truely a revolution. This engine changes what is possible in the Hot Rod industry. It is a leap foward in Hot Rod engine design. NRE's Tom Nelson explains the many unique features of this all new Small Block Nelson.

PLEASE GIVE ME A BREAK:censored:

If old GM was still around I think they would be taking a drive over to NRE.

Obviously the intake is different, but that is clearly an Oldsmobile Aurora IRL V8.

After Olds got out of IRL (and out of existence), you could buy those motors for surprisingly cheap. Like $10k for complete engines. I don't know what you'd do with an engine that turns 10.5k and runs on methanol, but looks like those guys had an idea.

That's a very nice looking block, and I guess the heads will be very sweet also.


But, as a person that has no real knowledge in engine building I have Q's that come from my ignorance.:o

I thought all V8's were priority main oiling? Well okay I only ever assembled three sb chevys, so weren't the sb chevys and our LT5's priority main oiling?

Doesn't our LT5 address crank windage better than that motor? I mean don't we have these passages that drain the heads directly into the oil pan sides and exit below the static oil level of even a running motor? That motor can't be designed for a real dry sump system with drain back holes? Isn't the LT5's answer to drain oil control a bit better?

How come the liners are not coated like the LT5 liners?

Isn't that block going to have the same restricted internal volume for the PCV system that our motors have?

I noticed that the crank has no wheel(?) for the crankshaft position sensor, so I guess it's going on the snout? Yea, it's a stupid Q! Is it impossible to do what our motors have in that vein? Don't all OE motors have our system?

This one is really stupid....That crank is/looks to me similar to our crank? Except our crank has knife edged counter weights, no? I know my LT-1 did from the factory. To me the drain back oil is going to hit the weights in that motor?

I really like the closed deck design!:worship:

I guess since I can't afford one of those, I have a bad case of sour grapes! Sorry! :o
