Drag Radials
I am considering a set of drag radials for my 90. What are the better performing ones out there?

Re: Drag Radials
i have used the mikey thompson drag radial 315x35x17 and the new nitto nto5 drag radial and the nitto is about a tenth better off the launch (60 ft ) best i could do with the mkey was 1.81 with the nitto my best after only 6 runs is 1.69 .the nitto will not last as long but if you put them on at home and drive to the track the nittos are way more stable . plus you can run the nitto tire pressure between 21-25 at the track where the mikey i had to run 15 lbs ,and the car liked to scate at the top end .kinda like a fat girl that struted her stuff . i also think that the 275x40x17 might be a better tire as it has a taller sidewall to take the shock of our manual trans off the line

Check with Phil... He has MT's on his Z and they seem to do very well. David |
Re: Drag Radials
I have a set of 275 40 MT's and they grab hard. But you have to heat them up good.

Re: Drag Radials
Just as an alternative, at the last drag day, Mike was hooking fine on Kuhmo Ecsta XS tires. He has the same mods as me, plus 4.10's. I had a lot of trouble with traction on GS-D3's, by comparison.
Unlike DRs, you could drive on these regularly. They obviously won't tolerate as hard launches as DRs, but it might depend on what you are looking for. |
