Survey of UK license plates searching for Narrow Bodies

After noting that Keiths 86 and the two 86 prototypes in HOTB have license plates in the same range I decided to see if I could find any more. Using the UK Carfax site Autocheck I began hunting them down. It appears that there were at least 5 Corvettes within +/- 20 license plates.

Here is what I found:

D123FPW Chevrolet Corvette, Red, Manual, 2 Door Saloon, Petrol
D131FPW Chevrolet Corvette, Yellow, Manual, 2 Door Saloon, Petrol
D137FPW Chevrolet Corvette, White, Manual, 2 Door Saloon, Petrol
D138FPW Chevrolet Corvette, Grey, Manual, 2 Door Saloon,Petrol
D142FPW Chevrolet Corvette, Gold, Manual,2 Door Saloon,Petrol

The two bold listings are Corvettes that are unknown.

Paid the 24.99BP for 5 reports and came up with some more neat data.

D123 FPW Red, Imported: 08/11/1986, Exported: 07/16/1987 Engine#: LT5006
D131 FPW Yellow, Imported: 10/03/1986, Exported: N/A, Engine#: LT50013
D137 FPW White, Imported: 11/01/1986, Exported: 12/1/1987, Engine#: LT5020
D138 FPW Grey, Imported: 11/01/1986, Exported: 01/01/1987, Engine# LT5021
D142 FPW Gold, Imported 10/16/1986, Exported: N/A, Engine#: LT5018

The narrow bodies were built by Hawtal-Whiting and Lotus. (See HOTB pages 83 to 87) Per HOTB the first 5 "Component Cars" where shipped to Mosport International Raceway in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada for Testing. I would bet that D139FPW was one of them.

HOTB also states they built 20 to 25 of these "Component Cars" Seeing the Engine numbers on the Autocheck reports would lead one to think this may be true. Now I need those plates numbers to track them down..

I know that it did. Geoff is putting together some pics for me. I did see some with a plate on the car. When I get that info, I'll pass it on. I'd certainly like to make a UK plate for it that is identical to the original, for show purposes only.

According to Minniker the first 25 engines were phase 1 motors so all those listed were phase 1 and some came back to US. There are some phase 1 motors in the NCM anyone know the s/ns?

Hi Eric, This is unbelievable information! You are quite the detective.
Above you mention you would bet D139FPW was among the first 5.
Is this a typo? Did you mean 138? Or is there more to the story?
Thanks, George

You get the prize for reading retention! My bad should be D138 FPW. Glad someone is paying attention.

Hey Brett, I am back,. No 2011 in my future. Would be neat though. I Think Roy Sinor ordered 2011 ZR1 #074.
