Re: I need a Windshield

yeah there was one being advertised on here or the Corvette forum, Don't know if it was an original if it was it was a take out from a ZR-1.

Other options

just replace with a stock windshield

Or get a repo through whiteracingproducts.com

also try and see if anyone breaking up a ZR-1 on ebay has one.

I have one of the Kurt White windshields from the group buy that I would be willing to part with for what I have in it. It is still in the crate and in perfect condition. I also have a decal that I had made up with the correct date code and logo for it. If interested PM me.

I'm not sure if you saw my post: http://www.zr1.net/forum/showthread.php?t=11833
I just went through this also. I bought a White Racing reproduction (He doesn't have any left) like Dandy97 is offering from a member here and am very happy with it. There are slight differences between it and the OEM glass, but it is much closer than a standard C4 windshield.

I've got to ask. Could you PMme regarding the decal you made?

Thanks

Sorry it took me so long to repond to this. The company I work for is in the prototype business and we use this process to prototype a silkscreen on a part. We work with a company that does this. How it works is they take a carrier or a backer then they lay down silkscreen ink in passes for each color. This is done as a mirror image because once the backer is removed it is actually the front. Once all of the colors are layed down an adhesive is applied on top of the ink and then a backer to protect the adhesive. It is applied just like a dry transfer decal. Once you are done, you have a silkscreened part without actually silkscreening the part.

I was able to throw the windshield logos on with some other artwork for prototype parts, so I got the decals essentially for free. But if you were to do this process for a few logos, with the setup charges and films, it would be about $500.00.

Thanks for the information. I was just thinking it might be a way to make the reproduction windshields more "NCRS" correct.

Well when it is applied it looks exactly like an original. So, yes it would make reproduction windshields NCRS correct. If you were making a bunch of windshields the the transfer decals would be the way to go. You can get about 30 decals on the one $500.00 sheet.

The first one that I made was for a good friend of mine that has a very low mile Grand Sport convertible and his windshield was cracked accidentally in the shop. Since he is going to get the car top flighted he wanted the replacement windshield to have the correct date codes. So I made up the logos for him.
