What is this thing?
 

Left (driver's) side of engine compartment, near the headlight is a triangular-shaped intake that has a foam filter that fits over it. The foam on mine has disintegrated. I tried to find refrence to it in the owner's manual and FSM, but no luck. Anyone?

A.I.R. intake. New ones are recently available at the for sale section of the registry (part for sale).

Yup, the AIR pump intake. I removed my radiator shroud and basically destroyed what was left of that foam in doing so.

Help me out, please. I went to the members only area and the for sale forum and didn't see anything on the AIR filter. Tom Henry Chevrolt does not have them. The only thing I saw in the members only area was Kurt's stuff and odds and end things. Nice, but nor what I'm after. I must be missing something. A secret handshake or code?

I talked with Gordon Kilebrew last year at Bowling Green......he said buy a black kids sock and use with a zip tie.

Wow, it took me a few reads to figure out that this was referring to a kid's sock that happens to be colored black, rather than a sock belonging to a black kid. :sign10:

LOL!!!

Also that's not a bad idea about the sock. I was thinking how I could get some open foam to wrap around it, but that's a good idea too. It just needs to keep big stuff out.
