Here it is..the thread to see if we can have a ZR-1 gathering and eats/libations on a nice Sunday. Of course the first step and always the challenging is WHICH Sunday
-must be a nice no rain day
-would include a BBQ or drive to a local watering hole
-should appeal to both ZR-1 driver/nut as well as significant other of any type
-can be at someone's home
-can be a combo of home (starters/gathering point/socializing) then to a watering hole
-must include time to tell lies and stories about our cars and ventures

I will start with a few SUGGESTIONs and if no one wants to do and has a better idea then that is great...open to any reasonable suggestion (no driving to BG and back is not reasonable :p )>>



Would be glad to host start point (gathering, social, etc) at my house and then we head over to Sweetwater Brew Pub/Tavern in Sterling area.

I have set up several car events at Rocky Gap... two hour drive each way and resort has nice bar/eats. Also on the way is a really cool photo ops site call Sideling Hill Cut...here is my C6 there and could do same shoot but with all ZR-1s>>>

This is definitely a fair weather drive and would have us leave a gathering point at about 9:30 am

So...my ideas and lets here more...but first does anyone want to do a GTG?????

Answer to your main question is YES for me, I am always up for a drive/GTG. I will attend if I am not working that weekend.

Thanks for taking the initiative to get a get-together together. (that is hard to read isn't it.)

Each of your proposals sound great. My suggestion is start the season with a medium length cruise. Tuscarora Mill sounds great.

I would be willing to host an eMail list to contact people about local ZR-1 events. I have a service that I use for my business eMail. I would set it up so that it is secure and anyone can unsubscribe at any time.

Is Rocky Gap a resort/golf course thing off of I-68? If so, we stopped there to and from Bowling Green to eat. It seemed like a neat place.

FYI, I'll be crossing the Atlantic this Sunday, but would be up for a GTG another Sunday.

Great ideas. I'm in as well schedule permitting. Medium-length for a start is a good idea. Where are you heading Bob? I'll be in the UK soon.

Looks like the Leesburg run is in... would you like to gather somewhere first... I will offer my house for that...spend an hour there then group grope head up to Leesburg to Tuscarora Mill for eats etc. ?

BTW...Northern Va Corvette Club has their big Concours event at Koons Chevrolet (Tysons Corner) this Sunday. I am putting the ZR-1 in its first show and I know of two other ZRs that will be there. Koons is clearing out the show room for the event so the primo cars will be there then the huge customer service area becomes the inside parking for all the concours cars and outside will be the street class cars. Weather looks like it is going to be very good (unlike last year when it rained)... so come on by...starts at 10 am.

I'd certainly be interested in getting together. My only concern is when. The sooner we start looking at dates the more likely I'll be able to make it.

OK.. how about June 29 and lunch at Tuscarora Inn in Leesburg. Lets shoot for 11 am arrival at Tuskie's. I will get with owner to see about getting reservations. Now to few items..

Hate to say that I can't join you guys June 29. Good excuse though. I'll be taking my car that day down to VIR for the NCM high-speed driving session June 29-July1. Count me in for the next one.

Keith, I'm heading to Frankfurt, Germany. I can't say I'm a big fan, traveling by air is such a hassle. And of course I don't speak any german... But what can you do. At least I get to travel business class, it would be much more hassle if I were flying coach!

Bob, Franfurt is one of my favorite cities; actually anywhere in Germany is high on my chart. Friendly people, nice city, beautiful countryside, good food, clean...

It's also a great place to drive !

Safe flight Bob. I actually lived in Bonn for three years and got to drive really fast nearly every day. And you can't beat the beer. So, yeah, I enjoyed Germany as well. (and I met my wife there...)

I'll be in the UK next week. The travel is a hassle for sure.

This is my first post on this forum. I found it due to the email I received from QB93Z...thanks QB.

My wife and I are making every effort to join you 'cause it sounds like a good chance to meet some ZR1 guys and (important for her) check out a really good restaurant that's not too far from home.

You could read my profile but to speed things up, we have a '93 40th Anniversary ZR1 and a '67 BB coupe. We currently belong to The Mason/Dixon NCRS Club and wouldn't mind checking out the club in Gaithersburg. I still remember how friendly those guys were to my son and I on a Skyline Drive Cruise a couple of years back.

That's probably enough for now, not trying to hijack the thread, just wanted to let you know we'd like to attend if it's open. But I gotta ask....what's a GTG?

There were 3 ZR-1s in the show...all three were in the show room itself>>>

Phil's red 94' is on the LEFT and Mike's (he is not a ZR-1 Registry member yet) is a modified black 90' on the right and my red 90' in the middle>>

Many comments on the ZR's and many were surprised to see three together. The dealership was open for business so those coming to look/buy Chevys were taken back by some many Corvettes (there were Vettes in the parking lot and in the customer service bays..about 40 there)...one woman looked around with hubby and went straight to my car and announced 'this is what I want...' Hubby explained it was a 90 and she said that doesn't matter still wants it...I explained it was not for sale and she was very disappointed :dontknow:

Anyway... my ZR took first in its class...so for a first showing it did well and here is proud owner and ride>>

Looks like most are coming in for June 29 (except one RedSled90 :( ) so lets keep thread moving and try to sign up for event by June 21 or so so I can get a head count...remember if you are coming make sure to note whether or not you are bringing someone.

For the Maryland crowd we can meet you at Tuskies (parking lot is adjacent to Inn) for the Norther Va crowd we can meet at Reston Town Center (I will note details as to where) or my house then drive to Tuskies...

Remember looking to ARRIVE at Tuskies at around 11 am so we can get good seating (yes I will be making reservations but just in case)

Sound like a plan???
