Manual Passenger Seat?
There's a '92 on BAT that does not have a power passenger seat.
There is no control in the console and the seller states passenger seat is not power. I was of the impression that the Z's came with all the options except the dual roof, which had to be specified. ('90's also had an AC choice). Have I been incorrectly thinking all these years? |
Re: Manual Passenger Seat?
Does the seller have the original window sticker? I heard of all the ZR1's like only one had standard AC but who knows for sure. That seat detail is very interesting.

Saw the number of '90's somewhere with manual AC. It was not a big number, but I don't recall exactly what it was. Believe a member here has the last one built with the manual AC. |
Re: Manual Passenger Seat?
Curiosity got the best of me, so I got to digging.
Found this at corvsport.com/1992-c4-corvette/ (quote) The ZR-1 Corvette received additional badges on its front fenders, and all Corvettes (base coupe, convertible and ZR-1 variants) received twin exhaust outlets that were rectangular in shape. For 1992, General Motors made the decision to reduce the formerly standard six-way power passenger seat to an extra-cost option. This decision was short-lived and returned as a standard option in 1993. (end quote) This is quite a curiosity to me, but looks like the power passenger seat may have been an option on the '92's. If this information is correct, I guess we still "learn something everyday"!! |
Re: Manual Passenger Seat?
According to the Genuine Black Book , Antonick:
"Note: During the model year ( 1992) , RPO AC1, was deleted form the ZR-1 package, and the price reduced by $305.00" There you go! Marty |

I would think any ordered without the power passenger seat were done so by mistake. I have seen some strangely optioned vehicles, and most of them were a result of the ordering dealer not paying attention. |
Re: Manual Passenger Seat?
It probably saved 2 pounds or so as well, think of the performance gains;)

Re: Manual Passenger Seat?
My '92 had a manual passenger seat also.

Re: Manual Passenger Seat?
Perhaps there was a shortage from a supplier.
It was a very popular option in the non ZR-1's. it was restored to RPO ZR-1 in the 93's. Interesting and unusual for sure! Marty |

Kenny
I think there were 124 in 1990 with RPO C60 , manual AC I have 1051 C60 |
Re: Manual Passenger Seat?
A 92’ of which only 502 were made, in White of which only 78 were made, with red guts, can’t be many, and with a one year only obscure option (or lack there of). Odds are good this is a one of a kind car. Hmmmm

Re: Manual Passenger Seat?
I saw this too and was wondering. OP, thanks for asking the question.

Re: Manual Passenger Seat?
Yeah one of a kind...That means when it crosses the block at Mecum one day bidding will surely be in the six figures...😳😳

Also, thanks to "Jeff" & "Gunny" for chiming in on the manual AC information. |
Re: Manual Passenger Seat?
I have a 92 and my understanding is there were only two extra cost options, ordering both roofs and the power passenger seat

Re: Manual Passenger Seat?
This car w/39K just sold for $23,250.00.
I would say the manual passenger seat didn't hurt it much! |

My ‘92 only had the power driver seat RPO AC3 only. Here’s a clip of the build sheet.
Car has both window sticker and build sheet to reflect accuracy. Red / Red Maybe not many with only the driver seat being power but it’s surly not one of a kind. |
Re: Manual Passenger Seat?
Awesome. I’ve read the black book a few times and forgot about this little quirk for the 92s. Nothing like saving $305. Haha.
