New ZR-1 Forum

As you can see I have created a new forum as the old one was nothing but problems. I know for you old timers it means starting over but this forum has more options such as uploading your old avatar. If you have any questions send your email to zr1net@zr1.net

Thanks,

Z Factor 12-12-2003 02:23 AM

Wow, that was kind of a short, and lacking explanation :(

So the old forum and all it's archived info is gone forever?

Do you mind giving us a more detailed explanation?

Thanks :)

zr1mom 12-12-2003 10:07 AM

Sorry, you are right it was short and it was a time factor. Please understand that the main forum is the ZR-1 Net listservice that I run with almost 1,000 members. So between my real job, my second job selling RaceDeck flooring, the ZR-1 Net, the ZR-1 web site and this forum I work 15 hours a day. What's left is for my family.

This forum is here as a secondary support tool for those ZR-1 owners who don't want to be a member of the ZR-1 Net (because of email volume) and may only have an occasional question.

Just so you also know I spent hours trying to fix the old forum (once again) and was getting tired of having to do so every few months. Will this one be more reliable? Time will tell. But it has a lot more features the other did not.

My apolgy to those that don't like the new forum. If I have sometime I'll look at trying to fix the old one.

I thought I was a smart guy, but I have no idea what time zone I'm in!?!?!?!?

A1990 12-12-2003 12:19 PM

Alright I figured it out. Central time zone = CMT - 6

:D

I'm sorry also if I came across a little too strong, but I liked that forum in the sense that it was more intimate than the ZR-1 section on the CF. It's not that I can't get use to this one, but it doesn't have any of the old info from the old one. If you were either able to transfer the old one to here, or fix the old one, I would be happy. :)
Since it is much slower that CF, it was easy to look up fixes you read about, or look up a poster who you wanted to speak with. I had archived some info there figuring I could always find it without too much of a hassle. Anyway, is there a way to fix the old one, or update this one with the old ones info?

Also, another suggestion I have for you would be to get a little help on this forum by having a few other people moderate the forum from time to time. The CF has plenty of mods (probably too many), and you should have a few people here to help you. If you spread yourself to thin, everything in your life might suffer, so don't hesitate to ask for a little help.

Lastly, I have to suggest that you do something about the excessive email on the other site. Even though you must pay, I would be there as well, being a fan of our cars, and a person who likes to read about the ZR-1 and it's owners. The only reason I never signed up was because of what everyone said was a email spam nightmare.

I will look into trying to transfer the old data here.

If anyone wants to be a moderator then let me know, I'll be happy to sent them up.

What I have done on the other site is have "TOPICS" you can subscribe to. This has cut down the volume a lot from the old days. I would never say the other list is an email spam.

Thanks,

Thanks,

Your posting anonymously now?

That would be great if the old info can be transfered over.

I'm not sure what you mean by I would never say the other list is an email spam.?

If I can be of help, just let me know.

PS
This new site has a bug in it where it sometimes will not take the post. It's happened to me 3 times already, and I had to hit the back button to retrieve the post, and hit submit again.

zr1mom 12-12-2003 06:51 PM

The anonymous was because I was remote. :-)

Thanks for the info on the bug, hadn't seen it myself yet. Will look into it.

You mention something about the other listservice having an email spam problem? "email spam nightmare"

Thanks,

Oh man,... all that stock piling of rare and invaluable information --- gone? *cringes*

But wait, the earth still rotated to give the illusion of a sun "rise"... how odd.

Hi Patton,

As you can see Mom will be working on transferring the info over, and I have offered to help as well. I know you are a regular poster over here and hopefully the info that you and others have left will not be lost.

I think the new platform has more to offer, so we will have to see if the info can be retrieved and archived in some fashion.

LoTu5 12-14-2003 02:01 PM

Out with the old in with the new, nice make over mom

zr1mom 12-14-2003 04:48 PM

Thanks UK!

Z Factor 12-15-2003 08:59 AM

It looks like we have some of the old posts back. :D

Keep up the good work Mom 8)

Anonymous 12-15-2003 10:18 AM

I'm working on it but I have to cut and paste each one, no easy way to do it. I'm almost done with the TECH section which was the biggest. Hopefully by tonight. :)

Z Factor 12-15-2003 10:51 AM

Well part of my offer to help would include such things, so let me know if there is a way for me to assist you. If not, there is no rush since the info is not currently needed. As long as we don't lose it, you have some time to do other things like get a few Christmas gifts for your family ;)

Patton 12-15-2003 11:57 PM

You are cutting and pasting each---one----?? Damn. Now That is dedication, you know I don’t mean to be over dramatic about this but its people like you this beautiful nation is built and survives on, I salute you and all your efforts - thank you for your work to keep this American icon alive, it is a precious consolidation of rare knowledge and expertise that will keep our tricky LT-5s growling for generations to come.

Thank You, and a Merry (Enter religious preference  ) to you and yours.

Patton 12-16-2003 12:00 AM

Oh yes, I am very willing to help and sacrifice my free time upon the same altar. Just let me know! Dont over extend yourself, you have minion, use em!

Z Factor 12-16-2003 07:56 AM

Good posts Patton 8)

By the way, you don't know of anyone selling coated headers at a good price, do you :?:

Anonymous 12-16-2003 08:27 AM

Hey Mom ! Thanks for all your hard work and dedication to the board and our club. You do alot of work behind the scenes and we really do appreciate your efforts ! Keep up the good work and have a Happy and Healthy Holiday !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D

zr1mom 12-16-2003 09:57 AM

Thanks everyone, besides who needs sleep. :-)

I do appreciate the support. I have just a few more pieces to copy over and we should be done. I'm not saving topics like shows and non-corvette related questions just the TECH stuff. As you can see there was quite a bit.

Thanks and Merry Christmas!

Patton 01-25-2004 05:08 AM

Z

Ceramics,.... only one I know right now is for a mustang, a friend of mine is selling his stang and joining the cool kid club (that would be us) ;)
Anywho he is trying to get all he can out of it so he is sellings his mods first. But I will keep my eye out... come to think of it I want some too damnit, i just need em to be smog compatible what with me living in Kalifornia and all.

P.S. This guy was a mustang NUT, after I took him on one 10 min adrenaline rush in my Z he decided to sell his "baby" and get a Z.

BlackWidow#2 02-03-2004 11:31 PM
