New Dodge Demon

is this why Chevy's holding off on introducing the latest ZR1?

840 hp
770 lb/ft torque
0 - 60 2.3 seconds

I can't wait for the You tube video, of some rich idiot driving this Demon into a ditch or drag strip wall......You know its a matter of time. The Demon is pretty badass, but for me its just overkill.

I've seen anywhere from $ 85,000 - 100k.....with dealer mark up of course.

Dealers premium will kill it off, like everything else!

Re: New Dodge Demon

One caveat: what I read was a little confusing, but it sounded like the 840HP peak apparently occurs with race fuel. Closer to 800 with standard 91. Still an amazing figure, but it makes me wonder what a standard 707HP Hellcat would produce if it was tuned to run on race gas. Plus, you can get the standard one with a stick...auto only for the Demon.

Re: New Dodge Demon

You would need a race clutch with a manual transmission.
Most people don't enjoy a race clutch!

When I was at spring Carlisle last year I got a chance to watch some of the auctions......I remember seeing a 2015 hellcat with the original window sticker..
It was actually less than the price of my 91Z when it was new....Go figure, 700 horsepower and over 600 ft.lbs of torque for less money...I remember someone telling me if you ordered these Hellcats when they came out there was no dealer Mark up.....That's what I heard...Don't know if it was true..

Never drove a hellcat and don't know many people that own one....Spoke to one guy last summer who was a car enthusiast and he said the power and technology are incredible......Thing I notice about those cars is that they are in fact on the heavy side....Never the less,700 useable HP speaks for itself...

Since they are not going to build many Demons I Gaurantee you will see dealer Mark ups.......

Looks like a bad *** machine .....Not in red though ...Lol....

Car pulls wheelies from factory, passenger seat option $1, back seat option $1, thats a marketing gimmick

Re: New Dodge Demon

Gotta give Dodge credit--very impressive product given that it is street legal (but, ironically, not NHRA drag strip legal). I loved my 500 HP ZR-1s and felt they were quick but manageable, even for someone not accustomed to higher horsepower cars. My current 650 HP Z06 -- 30% more power -- is very easy to drive on a regular basis but under full power it is really more than I can handle, even after two days at the Ron Fellows Corvette driving school. So I am probably not a buyer for the Demon. Which is just as well as I still love all the Corvettes!--Bob

Now if they can sort out their transmissions. Many SRT8 owners with major tranny issues [-X

And now how many Hellcats owners are groaning lol

Re: New Dodge Demon

I have a Hellcat...feeling a Demon kinda...just don't want to live without the HC suspension and brakes. Nor do I really car for the fender flares. But the trans brake and 840HP nailing you back into the seat at 1.9G's pulling a 3 foot wheelie, and blistering the 1/4 mile at 9.65 seconds and 140MPH. Thats just pure awesomeness!

They are boosted engine's really not that impressive when you you consider there are 1000+ HP 2 liter 4 bangers running around out there.

and how long do those 4 bangers last...I can speak from experience...the hellcats 707HP engine is a beast, and the 840HP is even more so.

Re: New Dodge Demon

I can speak from experience as well and they are great cars. Fun to drive, comfortable, and crazy fast. I cannot wait to get my hands on a Demon.

I kinda have to laugh at people putting cars down without even driving or owning one, fanboy or not.

I think you'd have to be twenty-something and still masturbating for sex to want one of these things. I've driven some 6 and 7 hundred hp Mazda Rx7's. They are absolutely no fun. Unless some computer is protecting you (and totally isolating you from anything resembling "driving" it yourself) the car will step out severely if you put any throttle on at 80-90 mph. That's like keeping a pet cobra in your front pocket. That said, there are certainly enough crazies to buy the limited number they'll make. So, good business decision by Dodge. I'll take the iMax version.

The nannies on these cars are quite impressive, there if needed. My 2016 Z06 has a tendency of stepping out way before the Hellcat does. I can see a 700hp RX7 not being fun to drive the car wasn't made for that much hp.

Very nice. Id love to take one for a spin !!

Re: New Dodge Demon

I'm a huge fan of this decision. It's a very very bold move on dodges part to make a car that won't take a corner for its life, but will blast a quarter like it does. Wrinkle wall tires, trans brake, a cooling system that keeps cooling after it shuts down....

It can do under 10 seconds with no mods. That's so rad.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan boy, but making a no compromise car like this is way cool.

Trans Am world wide already one upped the Demon with the SD 455. Around 1000 HP. makes one wonder where this muscle care war is headed?

This statement don't fly. As stated just how long will that 4 banger stay together? I'm not a Challenger guy, cars too narrow and looks a little odd but I have huge respect for Chrysler, they have always gone outside the box and built stuff GM or Ford never would. A V8 Convertible Dakota truck, the Prowler although didn't care for the V6.
