BEANIE & THE B
Took "Beanie" our 1995 Polo Green to a non-judged show at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum on Sunday. All different kinds of cars. A C2 with almost truck mudder tires on it, C3 and a few C4's. We were the only Z. Coolest cars, (besides ours of course) had to be the Hudson's - about 6 of them including a Hornet, Kommodore and a pickup. There was also a tricked out old Continental with hi-lo shocks on it. For a small donation to the Museum you could get your car's picture taken with two of the vintage aircraft - a B25 Mitchell and a Norseman. We really wanted to get a picture with the Lancaster Bomber as it is only 1 of 3? left in the world today, but as it was flying we couldn't get close enough. As a matter of fact just as Tripler was pulling the car up to the Norseman, the Lancaster fired up its engines. Like a Z, the sound of the Lancaster engines is unusual and unmistakable. Once you have heard a Lancaster's engines in full rip you can recognize that sound for the rest of your life. Tripler is going to post some pics.

Re: BEANIE & THE B
vmax was 272 for the B25
Considering it had 3400 hp not that much better than a ZR-1w/375... of course vmax was in knots... and the ZR-1 has a much smaller payload and ceiling... |

Re: BEANIE & THE B
That Lancaster bomber is of only 2 flying in the world right now, of the 7,377 built by Avro, there are 15 others that are pretty much complete, but only 2 are airworthy.
In August 2014, VR-A, FM213 aka-Vera, flew over to Britain and joined its sister PA474 based in Coningsby, the UK, is operated by The Battle of Britain Memorial. This was the first Trans Atlantic crossing of a Lancaster bomber since 1975. They flew formation demonstrations in the UK. Each RollS Royce Merlin V12 engine produces 1280hp from 27 liters or 1,650 cubes displacement. Mr Plunkett rents these old planes to fly over his annual Cadillac car show near London Ontario. That would have been a cool show to have gone to, good photo op for the 57. http://i1202.photobucket.com/albums/...8e66a8402a.jpg http://i1202.photobucket.com/albums/...fjune25024.jpg http://i1202.photobucket.com/albums/...fjune25026.jpg http://i1202.photobucket.com/albums/...fjune25030.jpg http://i1202.photobucket.com/albums/...fjune25009.jpg |
Re: BEANIE & THE B
Glad to see you guys are enjoying the '95! Safe travels to Carlisle. I won't be there this year. Nice 57, Hog!

Re: BEANIE & THE B
Nice meeting you too Jeff . We left Carlisle on Saturday morning and went to spend 2 days in the town of Hershy .That is one amazing town and hotel . Had a rather peculiar drive back to Canada when the gps put us in a very nasty part of town at the border were there was no bridge . Never trusting a gps again ... but we got home safe . At one point it wanted us to make a left hand turn into a ditch and culvert guarded by a railing ...
And it is a Garmin . My TomTom never did any of the stuff you hear about regarding a gps sending you on wild goose chases . This garmin is going in the garbage ... or recycle I mean ... ;) |
Re: BEANIE & THE B
That is one gorgeous 57. Great info on the Lancaster also . It flew over my house twice last week and off topic but the Good Year Blimp also flew over my house this weekend 3 times . It is here for some hockey thing .
Keep an eye on the Museum's website . Perhaps they will be doing it again next year . ;) Sent from my LG-D852 using ZR-1 Net Registry mobile app |

Re: BEANIE & THE B
Wow - great photos - love the last one (rear of the red Z against the yellow classic). Let's plan to do something in Canada in 2017; Niagara area is always a great backdrop.

Next year we need to all show up at Wings and Wheels at the Hamilton Vintage show . That would be cool ... I will try and get a few of my vintage bike friends to bring there 2 stroke triples also . A few of the four stroke vintage bike guys showed up this summer tho I thought it was a car event ...
;) ;) ;) |
Re: BEANIE & THE B
Did you guys know that my 1975 2 stroke triple with just 60hp is almost as fast as a ZR-1 in the 1/4 mile . Crazyhuh and fun as hell to ride ...

Re: BEANIE & THE B
