Texas Meet Anyone?

Anyone up for doing a Texas meet again? Dave? Steve? Dan? Weather's been great. Know it's soon since last one but maybe we could discuss BG caravan this May?

Cheers,

We've done one in Buffalo and one in Austin. Anywhere is fine with me. Always up for a drive.

Re: Texas Meet Anyone?

We've actually done 3. The first one was in Hico at a state park. That may be a little far for the Houston guys, though. Do you guys want to meet at Saltlicks again or try something different? We could get crazy, drive out to Ft. Stockton, bust down the gates, do a victory lap and then get the hell outta Dodge. Last one out the gate pays the fines!

Blanco square has a couple of places to eat. One (The Chess Club) is fantastic but tough to get into unless we're early.

There's the Blue Bonnet Café in Marble Falls...

Forgot about one in Hico. If I wasn't there it didn't happen! Lol. Oh well, thats what I get for thinking. Dave do you want to post something in CF or do you want me to?

Btw, I'm ok with anywhere. If it's a long drive, I would be ok with hotel stay just so not traveling at night in case of breakdowns. I'll go with what everyone else wants to do.

Well, you're getting "dangerously" close to my old stompin' grounds ... so let me suggest a couple of really outstanding BBQ places (the brisket is outstanding, possibly the best in Texas) ... Cooper's BBQ in either Llano or Mason. Definitely worth the drive. I always preferred the Mason location until the health department forced them to put a floor in the "dining room" ... years ago it was a tin shack with picnic tables and dirt floor and had the best ambiance of any BBQ place in the hill country.

Shoot, let me know the date and I might be tempted to drive in for the event ... I need an excuse to check the fence line on my ranchland located between the two Cooper establishments.

If you could post in CF that would be great. Let's try and get a consensus of what everyone wants to do and go from there.

Coopers was rated the Best BBQ in Texas a few years ago. I've driven by the Llano location before but never eaten there.

Gunny, that would be outstanding if you could join us.

Dave I posted on CF today. Anyone else have suggestion for where? I know it's a long way for some but I can offer my place. Lots of room and lots of good restaurants. Or can BBQ or order in. Just a thought. Would like to discuss big group going to BG.

If any Louisiana guys want in I would say your welcome too!

I will be bringing the Lingenfelter down to Beeville Texas for the Texas Mile event April 1-3...If I am able to get the bus down, a BBQ of sorts could be done there. A tailgating affair....we've done it for my daughter's games..I think several other members of the ZR-1 community will also have RVs...just throwing it out there.

That might work except then you're not getting to drive your car anywhere. Do we have a date yet for BG?

Maybe mile run might be a good compromise.

Re: Texas Meet Anyone?

I'm ok with that. A bunch of Z's showing up to support a brother running in the mile sounds great. Are there hotels around there? It'll have to be a 2 dayer for me.

Lodging (probably not too cheap): http://texasmile.net/lodging.php

I'll be there Saturday - maybe with a few other ZR-1 folks from the New Braunfels area.

Due to head gasket failure WydGlydJim is out for the Texas Mile. Do you guys still want to meet there or do something else?

I'm open. Everything went quiet on both forums. Not sure where to go at this point. You have any other ideas Dave. I know Steve wanted to do TM.

Re: Texas Meet Anyone?

I'm still good with it if you are. Never been. I'm sure Corey will have something running. He always does.

BTW...Happy Birthday!

Re: Texas Meet Anyone?

I saw Corey, Arnold, and Joe - nary a ZR-1 but a bunch of ZR1s on Saturday. Great 65 coupe from Finland ran 201 - significant underbody aerodynamic tricks to keep it on the ground at that speed. Where was everybody else?

Roasted starter due to detailing engine mishap. Just posted about it in Technical Postings. Hope to have it ready for BG.

I'm still in for something...

I'll even host a BBQ if guy's want to come to Fort Worth.

Cheers,
Ron

Ft. Worth, Dallas, or Houston. I'm in. Especially before it gets too hot. I would still offer my place. Lots of room, although I wouldn't get o drive. Dave?

What's up fellas. Been trying to get caught up after a week long trip to NH and then Detroit. Still haven't done my starter. I've got to get it done next week if I'm going to make BG. MickeyD, you going to BG?

Hadn't planned on it. After everything went quiet on here, just didn't think about it. Is it this weekend?

It's the 12th - 14th. I don't think I'm going to make it. either. Maybe we can do a Texas gathering instead?

Re: Texas Meet Anyone?

No worries. I'll throw something together. Let me get my starter swapped out. We could do it at my place and do a starter swap as a maintenance day thing.

MickeyD 05-05-2016 07:59 AM

Re: Texas Meet Anyone?

Sure. We are missing some great weather right now. Throw out an idea of when and where. Your place sounds fine. I'll help you get it done.

Starter is done (along with some other plenum off maintenance) so I'm ready to go. You guys want to meet back at the park we met at in Buffalo?
