The drive from Georgia was, for the most part, very enjoyable ... altho I-65 north from Indianapolis was a real pain in the a$$ (literally). I think I will find a better route back to Georgia when I go back for my Z in a few weeks. Many thanks to Marc and his wonderful family for hosting such a perfect event. Oh, and one more thing (as Colombo always said) ... Marc, where did you locate all the "trained" bees that provided the entertainment during lunch? |
Re: The Haibeck Automotive Picnic
As always, thanks for the pictures George. Brett Henderson's shop is just north of Indy on I-65 and then there's the Auburn Auto Museum. Just fantastic pieces of art there. Might be worth your while on the way back.
Thanks again for taking us along! |
Re: The Haibeck Automotive Picnic
Gunny
The museum at Indianapolis Motor Speedway is a "must see" even you're not a big race fan. Not too far off I-65 at the corner of Georgetown and 16th. |
Re: The Haibeck Automotive Picnic
Great pix George, as usual, and nice to see you up here. As to a better route back, look at going down I-57 in Illinois instead of I-65 in Indiana. As Marc and I mentioned, we have been using that route to BG for a few years since I-65 has been so full of tank traps and potholes. --Bob

suggestions were made that I should definitely see the Auburn Museum, stop by & see Brett, and visit the Indianapolis Motor Speedway museum. Decisions, decisions ... I'll have to first check the calendar to see if I can manage the extra stops and then check the map to see how to avoid the pothole king known as I-65. speaking of potholes ... the flight from O'Hare to Atlanta was full of "pocket holes" ... roughest flight I've been on since some "forgettable" military flights some 45 years ago. The turbulence was absolutely incredible yet there wasn't a cloud in the sky. |
