and that picture is on Oahu...see Waikiki and Diamond Hea din the background...I lived there briefly in 1980 and have been back many times...I didn't see any place you could safely run a car up to 200...

Yup...he took the PACIFIC HIGHWAY from California out there! :-) and from Wikipedia... Its English name was given by British sailors in the 19th century, who mistook calcite crystals embedded in the rock for diamonds. Many tourist in Hawaii belive that Diamond Head is a volcano when it truely isn't. It is located on the coast east of Waikīkī (in Honolulu).

The model is Elaine Schwartz, wife of Hawaiian photographer, Stan Schwartz.

Stan and Elaine once owned a ZR-1. In fact, they had more than one of them and I think the car in the photos is the second one. They had.

As for the 200 mph on the speedometer, the car pictured was probably not capible of that speed. Anyone can take a photo like that, if you put the back of the car on jack stands, start the motor, put the trans in sixth, accelerate the rear wheels until you see that number on the IP then take a picture.

Actually, it's not stupid at all.

The only stupidity, here, appears to be demonstrated by: 1) your lack of knowlege and 2) your inability to spell even simple words.

Reality is that the Service Manual suggests running the car on a lift or jack stands, supported such that the halfshaft angles are reduced, as a testing/diagnosis method. Admittedly, the manual doesn't suggest running the car at such a high wheel speed but, provided the car is supported per the Service Manual, the tires are Z-rated and properly balanced and you don't have any driveline balance problems, running the car in sixth gear for a short period of time at 200mph shouldn't be a problem.

A "stoc" zr1 video clip showing a car at 176 mph is by no means out of the ordinary. I've seen many examples of that, along with still photos, over the years. Any stock ZR1, that's running properly (that means, not only the engine but the driveline, tires, alignment and the front air dam), given 3-4 miles of straight, flat, safe road, will make 180.

But 200?

Well...if you understood the physics involved, you'd not make such a statement which is, well....(to use your own words) "stupid".

What does it take to go 200 in a ZR-1?

1) More power (probably a lot more) than stock
2) Some slight aero mods to make the car more stable between 180 and 200 mph.
3) Optional might be an axle ratio change to put the engine higher in the rpm band in sixth gear.

Where did this guy come from anyway. He actually posts that Hib has a lack of knowledge, you have got to be kidding me. I have watched postings from him for a month now and they are all ramblings, no tech stuff at all, yet he claims to own a company that specializes in fuel injection. He says all the respected tuners in this country know him. Callaway, Rippie and more maybe.

Anybody here know him for sure? Please post if you do.

He lives in Kuwait...He has a degree in Mech. Engineering from an American U...He does know a lot of the tuners but maybe not in person...He has owned several Corvettes...I do not know him in person myself...He speaks English as a second lang...He does know a lot about Corvettes and is not a stupid person by any means...I like him and his humor and am willing to put up with his broken English since he is a Vette lover and ZR-1 in particular.

I have never seen him start a flame war but I have seen him defend his broken English which I do not blame him one bit for...

I think it is important to keep things in perspective and embrace all ZR-1 lovers equally on this forum...

As a final thought imagine you were to attempt to post on a Kuwait site in your second language and they all jumped all over you because it was not so perfect...Put yourself in his shoes for a while and think about it...

I am sure if you ask him about his FI endeavors he will be glad to tell you all about it!!!
