FS-Complete Valvetrain and cams- 700hp

All,
Now that I have the new cam cores, I have decided to switch over to mechanical (solid) followers on this version of the 427. And bigger cams, in search of 800 hp. :jawdrop:

So, I am offering my entire valvetrain from build 1 for sale. It is a matched set, so I won't break it up--the components have been selected designed to work together as a system. This isn't for the faint of heart, but it will make an honest 700 crank hp, with a good set of cylinder heads.

The entire system has maybe 4 hours of dyno time and 2000 miles of spirited driving.
  • (4) custom billet camshafts (Integral Cams)
  • (16) Stainless intake valves, 39.5mm (SI Valves)
  • (16) Stainless exhaust valves, 35.5mm (SI Valves)
  • (32) Custom Titanium retainers (CHE Precision)
  • (32) Custom hardened steel spring seats (CHE)
  • (32) Valve locks / keepers (Ferrea)
  • (32) Hydraulic lightweight followers /lifters (INA)
  • (32) Valve springs (Eibach)
I will help the buyer with setup advice, if needed.

Price: now $8000

Todd,

ActUally that is an amazing price for all the gorgeous hardware shown. I'm assuming we won't see you at BG then?

So pretty. How would these cams do on a stock ci LT5? :-D

I think the word overkill would not be an adequate statement.

Well, it depends how good the cylinder heads are, and how high you want to rev it.

My calculations, using the stock 93mm stroke, show you need to rev it to around 7600-8000 peak power speed to take full advantage of that duration. More stroke brings that peak power speed down.

The biggest issue you face is that you will need valve reliefs in the pistons. These cams have .150" lift at TDC intake, and .102" lift exhaust at TDC. You can work out the piston to valve clearance from that.

wow, that is some serious stuff there

probably wake up the old LSV a bit

I would think this stuff would be best for 330 cfm plus ported heads with a stroker

the lil 390 might do them justice if I took her up to 7500 or so

good luck with the solid cams, I admire your willingness to experiment

fastlane and graham should know most about making it work

800 NA will be simply amazing are you turning it up past 8k

Re: FS-Complete Valvetrain and cams- 700hp

Ron,
700hp is doable with a net 305-310 cfm (through the plenum, TB, and airhorn). That takes at least 335-340 @ .450 lift just through the heads.

Your LPE's are probably close to that.

These are really nice cams, and I'm having second thoughts about letting them go. One-of-a-kind, for sure. I wish Steve wouldn't have closed his business (Integral Cams). His work was first rate, and his knowledge of metallurgy and spring stresses was tremendous.

As for my next version... no, not 8000. Not with a 4" stroke. 5000 fpm (7500 rpm) is the absolute limit I feel comfortable with for an endurance build. I intend to make peak power at 7300-7400 rpm.

If these are still around in a few months I will strongly consider them. Timing just isnt working for me right now :(

Price reduced. $8000, or make me an offer. I really want to run solids, but if I can't sell these I'll put them back in build #2.

I will consider splitting this set up into more affordable pieces. If you're interested in the valves, springs, retainers, seats, I'd sell that separate from the cams themselves.

For anybody doing a max effort top end, these would be great parts--all the engineering work is done. All you'd need is new 7mm guides (which I can help you source).
