WTB: 1990-92 ZR-1

First post...

I have owned a base 1993 for several years and looking to upgrade...trying to find a nice 1990-92 ZR-1. 93-95's are out of my price range.

I'd prefer Red with Black or Tan interior, but will consider other color combos.

Looking for something with ~30k mi or less but condition is more important than mileage to me. I don't want a perfect car that I'm afraid to drive, but I want it to still be nice enough to show and be proud of. I don't want a "steal of a deal" on a basket case car that needs work.

Preferably stock/minor mods O.K. I'd really like to have the original wheels and dual targa tops.

I'm in TX by the way, but willing to travel anywhere in the lower 48 if you can provide some high quality pictures before hand.

Thanks

Hi Josh and Welcome

You will love a Red with beige/saddle interior.....and you will love keeping the secondaries operational as that is what the ZR-1 is all about

Us that modify the LT5 as the second great part of ZR-1 ownership often eliminate the secondaries ;)

There are minor differences between the 1990 LT5s and the 1991 LT5s.

Oh......and that signature of yours is P E R F E C T :handshak:

After nearly 3 years of ownership, what I have learned is not to get hung up too much on low mileage. The best deals are probably on the 40k-60k mi cars that the owner had enough time to fix all the stuff and maybe throw on a few mods before the car is offered for sale.
The really low mi cars have immaculate interiors and the chassis is generally cleaner. This is nice, but it only takes about 10k miles to dirty the car up enough to put it in 'driver' category so something to think about. I got mine with 26k miles, but it needed a lot of work as it turned out.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

Mike100, that's good advice, thanks. I suppose I will open up my search to a car with 50k or so miles that has been well-kept.

Glenn, I am in Magnolia.

Dynomite, nice car, and thanks for the encouragement! Can't wait to get me a ZR-1.

Franke, PM sent.

You guys will love this, but why not drop a supercharger on what you have now?

Still won't be as pretty as an LT5!

There's something "Legendary" about the ZR-1 that no modded base model will ever attain.

What's your budget? I just brought three to Ft. Worth and I think I just may thin out the herd. The misses wants me to buy a fast Airplane!

Cheers,

Too hard and expensive. The remote mount turbo is the way to go if upgrading an LT1!

Plus then you are driving a blower off of a SBC crank snout. I have seen many issues in doing so, even with the forged 4340 steel stroker cranks used in the HT383/ZZ383/HT303-E .
