Re: 1990 LPE 402ci.
Very nice car!!!
Owner says its 623hp with a 402ci and Lingenfelter offers a 415ci with 610hp? (they are not offering a 402 now but maybe they did 10 years ago) That car has big brakes, roll cage and fikse's This is a real NICE car! Love to hear more about it  David |
Re: 1990 LPE 402ci.
I think its bs.

Re: 1990 LPE 402ci.
Looks like the Windshield has been replaced with a later small opening type and work must have been done a long, long time ago, note the old style Borla!
Rear upper carpet has mystery holes probably from a different type roll bar once installed and removed. Nice looking car but 632hp surely possible but I'd have to see it for myself on a dyno to believe it (assuming rating @ FW). 17" Fiske's look good on this car but 18's would look a whole lot better, more wheel, less tire. For the right money, be a nice car for someone. Wonder who did any service work on the car, its in close proximity to Tonys Corvettes in Gaithersburg, MD? |
Re: 1990 LPE 402ci.
He should have the papers from LPE to verify the work done to the car. Including the vin # with the papers.
|
Re: 1990 LPE 402ci.
Mystery holes are where the targa top front storage mount would be.
It is a nice car, I would bet to say the owner is thinking 40K plus. Original owner, three of four trips to Lingenfelter he has over $120,000 dollars in that car. That is if he bought it at cost. The dealers in Chicago were getting $30,000.00 over sticker for 90's. |
Re: 1990 LPE 402ci.
I would never have questioned the car until I read that it was done by LPE. I'm used to seeing most cars that have been done by LPE having the plenum machined saying Lingenfelter on it. But I guess you could request that they don't do it. But like Frank says it will have paperwork if it was done by them. I've heard nothing but good things about the 402,s.

Re: 1990 LPE 402ci.
I know Kevin (Polo-1) built and sold a 402.
Somebody got a great deal. Ask him what car it went into and about HP numbers. |
Re: 1990 LPE 402ci.
I just got an email back from Tim Dyer at LPE and he said no! They never offered a 402cid. Only 368 385 and 415. So somebodies not telling the truth or miss spoke.

could be lpe, drm or sgc.

Re: 1990 LPE 402ci.
It doesn't matter to me anyway since I'm not buying the car. But if I was planing on it I would have already contacted the seller and got who built it clarified. It's still an awesome car no matter who built.

Also my LPE 368 does not have the plenum engraving, think a fair amount of the cars done in the early/mid 90's are like that. |
Re: 1990 LPE 402ci.
lpe's records may not be complete...lpe, like all companies, are capable of making mistakes

As I said. Lpe isn't perfect

Re: 1990 LPE 402ci.
@ the year 2001 I bought a 402 kit from a guy up here in NY. He got the kit from LPE trust me. How do I know this ? LPE was printed on the rod's and the box the crank came in had the crank spec's with LPE as the buyer.
Go figure. I'm not doubting anything here. Just stating my experience. But as said before if that is an LPE engine , it has full paper's with the engine number's etc. from LPE period. This 402 car look's like a real nice car and a good deal. |

Owner said he had direct dealings with John himself and said he advised the 402 vs 415 for what he wanted 623hp might be an aggressive hp number but you never know! David |
Re: 1990 LPE 402ci.
A little off topic here but I remember at BG one year Rippie talking about the few custom cranks he did for the LT5 from the stock blanks. Not regrinding cranks but using the stock blanks before they were machined and using different specs. Anyone remember what CI LT5's these cranks were used in? Or where they are today?

Re: 1990 LPE 402ci.
Hi Daniel,
No suprise.Doug probably did that to get around the "LT5 TAX" that was-is being levied on stroker crank's.I have no idea where the crank's are. JVD are you there ? Cause I aint squeelin ! When done correctly........there is absolutely no problem at all using a reground crank. |
Re: 1990 LPE 402ci.
Well there is 1 day 23 hours left and the bid is at $18,300. So the bidding will either go up real fast on the last day or it will not meet the reserve.

Re: 1990 LPE 402ci.
Oh and if it makes 623hp with 15% lose through the drive shaft that would be 529rwhp that sounds about right. If the LPE 385's make 510-520rwhp then why wouldn't the bigger 402 do it? At least it makes mathematical sense.
