Should turn that filter upside down for a cold air intake!!!

These "Screws" on this new release are an improvement over the original design which was threaded rod with top cap cover. Single piece looks good and more durable. GC :)

Dave, this polished version isn't finished yet, is it? Is this just a mockup and not fully welded?

This is an old thread but was wondering if these were still available?

sorry these are no longer being produced. Fabricator was a great member here and has since passed on last year

The more interesting item for me in reading this old thread is David Johnson's (ZZZZZR1) status. Banned? What does that mean? He helped me immeasurably with my Z when I bought it. "Banning" someone who is so enthusiastic about and important to such a tiny hobby isn't smart. Sounds like someone lost a pissing match. Just my humble opinion.

I can reach out to George's wife. She had several unfinished air boxes that had been cut out and bent and just needed the final welding. She was looking at having George's partner finish them up, not sure if she was still perusing this. Will try to find out.

I have PMed Brett more than once just to make sure I am not in a @%#$%! contest without knowing it. There are a Hand full of @%#$%! contests I DO know about :D

Yes.........David has helped me often and is ENTHUSIASTIC regarding ZR-1s for sure which I greatly appreciate.

George's SS Air Filter Housing is absolutely the best and super quality craftsmanship. I have two of them installed on 1991 and 1990.

I spoke to George's wife and she said that George's partner thinks there are pieces of the air box that still need to be fabricated he didn't want to touch the project. I remember George remarking that they were a real pain in the A$$ to fabricate. Also I don't think George's wife has any completed boxes for him to work from, so there won't be any more boxes made :(

I may be willing to try to duplicate George's design for myself, since I sold mine with the Turq Monster. He did a great job on the one I bought.

Thanks for the info. Sorry about the situation. I would be willing to pay for any drawings that may exist and possibly even what ever pieces that still exist.

I sent a note to George's wife and she would sell the air box parts that are left. There are no drawings, George just took an eye-ball and winged it, he was that good! She needs to inventory what is left in parts and post up with pictures and a price.

You can?t get away that easy! Please explain what it does for performance, the cosmetic upgrade is obvious.

Re: FS new stainless steel air box

You can tell just by looking at it. More open and smoother airway than the original plastic air cleaner housing. If you have any reservations I along with a few others will be glad to buy it from you.

Wow, this email is a blast from the past. At one point I was considering purchasing what pieces and parts that were left and try to find a fabricator to to complete what ever was left and possibly build some from scratch but did not have much luck finding anyone interested. There is not much in the way of custom shops in Atlanta. Folks around here only want to work on newer cars.
