Ultamate C4 Build
Okay I have been working off and on for a while now the ultimate C4 (84) base hyper dream car. I want it to be road legal but it will be a auto cross and from time to time drag strip car. Here is what I have so far, LS7, T56, racing air jacks, finshed mold for a Carbon Fiber roof, Dana 44, and my full machine shop at my disposal. I was wondering if you guys have any input towards this suspension, chassis stiffening , anything to improve the C4 chassis and suspension. Any ideas are welcome I want to see what has been done out there. Right now I am trying to work on my concept. Thank you gentalmen for any advice.

Re: Ultamate C4 Build
Certainly brakes. How about doing the adapters for C6Z brakes?

Re: Ultamate C4 Build
Oh ya I also have c5 brakes and c5 zo6 wheels. But if I do run across some c6s I definitely want them though. Excellent point Xfirez51

Re: Ultamate C4 Build
There are some pcts in the "events" section that I took at the 2011 gathering of a car with a camber brace done by Baker racing. I'll look around and see if I can find a link for you to the thread. The car is a white Z owned by one of our bothers here.
Oh, just remembered this. Baker Racing stitch welded the frame to supplant the spot welds from the factory. That will stiffen up any frame. My 72 had that treatment recommended to me by a dirt racer who was a buddy of mine. It's a lot of work and time but my 72 was stiffer than my 90 Z. Of course I don't know how comfortable that would be as I was in my late 20's when I owned that car! Tom |

Re: Ultamate C4 Build
if it was a black widdow car and not just one with a black motor then it could only be car #1 or car #8. neither have any mention of a brace like that

Sorry for being late on this I didn't see the thread! DRM did not do any work on this ZR-1. Dieline Corporation that built all of the die's and all of the C4 frames for GM built the frame by hand in the companies Grand Rapids, MI shop and the original ZR-1 #1639 was used as a parts car. The ZR-1 has 144 feet of mig welding to all the seams, the engine cradle is beefed up, the fire wall is different, and all the shock mounting points are modified and reinforced. The frame is filled from front to back with foam and the bars welded in. The front tube bars aren't so much for rigidity but for crash resistance. When the guys at Dieline were crash testing the C4's the cars tined to fold in on the passenger compartment. That’s what the bars are for, but they do add to the overall rigidity of the car. This ZR-1 is not one of the Rippie Black Widow ZR-1's it was built before the Black Widow cars were built. The motor was built by Kim Baker (In the Black finish) and the remainder of the car by Dieline Corp. Here is the car being built at Dieline Corp: http://img577.imageshack.us/img577/4...ielinecorp.jpg Here's a few more: http://img408.imageshack.us/img408/8...cture010lj.jpg http://img534.imageshack.us/img534/8...cture012be.jpg http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/5...cture013jr.jpg http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/2...cture017sx.jpg http://img840.imageshack.us/img840/5...cture020by.jpg |
