Pulled the trans today, with a lift, this is so easy C-Beam came right out, trans cam out, easy to get to Bell housing bolts. 3hrs of work and I am 1/2 way home.

However, I noticed the rear main seal is flush on one side and recessed on the other, I think the seal is bad or going.....thoughts?

You have the opportunity, change it now. I did my Fidanza 2 years ago and Al recently noticed seal was leaking. I'll need to change it soon.

I Am going to order one from Jerry Gaskets, he has a Viton version.(free plug)


Also putting a new rear seal in the ZF....might even do a new clutch disc.

Since I could not finish today, I was posed with a problem....with my lift, I cannot get the Trans out from under Lift due to ceiling clearance.

Had to pick the ZF off the stand and carry it from under the lift....that is a heavy 135lbs.

Worst part is putting it on the ground, with arthritis in the back and hips had a hard time putting it down.....back in the day I used to do what were called Zercher squats....holding the bar in the crooks of my arms...at one point I could squat 515lbs that way......I don't think I could anymore.

Sounds like you are having fun in the heat today.

I lost 5lbs today just sweating it out.....the worst ever was Paul Workmans engine pull....It was so hot that you actually stopped sweating at points.....could not keep the fluids in us and that was about 6-8 hours out in the heat.

Well, I should have said air conditioning then. I'll trade you split air system for a lift; I can't do work on the Z on my back these days too and that tranny is a heavy bugger.............

Lee its easier to put the trans on the bench than all the way on the floor.

My bench is covered with plenum parts, not sure it would hold it
