Radiator recommendations ?
My son and I plan on making the trip to BG this year and I plan on installing new hoses and was thinking about replacing the factory radiator with a larger aluminum one. Who makes a good radiator to drop in? I replaced the radiator on my first ZR1 and my 96 LT1 car with a factory style but not worried about the car looking original.

Re: Radiator recommendations ?
I installed Dewitt Pro Series which has two rows 1" pipes. Much better quality and no longer worried about plastic side tanks busting on OEM radiator.

Re: Radiator recommendations ?
I purchased a DeWitt radiator on sale over the holidays along with silicone hoses and a new heater core.

Re: Radiator recommendations ?
I went with Dewitt, too. I'm happy with the end result but it was more work than I expected. Afterwards, though, you'll have great peace of mind, especially if you plan to do some laps at the track.
Maybe budget extra time in case you need to walk away from it for a while and take a break. In other words, don't do it on the Wednesday night before you leave for BG. :-). |

Ron Davis, Fluidyne, Other Multicore Aluminum......Just to add some choices :p
All perform perfectly  |
Re: Radiator recommendations ?
As I remember the OEM style went in pretty much straight forward. Is the Dewitt more difficult? The thing I hated was changing out the hoses going to the thermostat. I ended up going to Sears back in the day and buying a remote hose clamp tool to make dealing with the factory style clamps easier but it was still a pain.

Re: Radiator recommendations ?
I too went with the DeWitts that others mentioned. Marc did the replacement when he did the 510 pkg. I know he used my original GM hoses. The unit comes with a spacer bar that must be installed because of the rad thickness, but it is easy to install and does not diminish the underhood appearance. That's where my research led me, and I am extremely happy with the product some five years in.
