It's ALIVE!!

Got my ZR-1 back on the ground yesterday afternoon and finally took that first real drive. OMG that engine is addictive. Incredibly smooth and just pulls all the way to the moon! I used Marc's coolant filling procedure and it worked perfectly, no issues at all. The car warmed up nicely, fans operated like they should, and wow does it ever run well.

Thanks to Steve (We Gone) for some last minute advice. When I first tried to start it, lights, camera, nothing. I was sure I had somehow tripped the security system and he had some great suggestions. Turns out I had just killed the battery. :rolleyes: A quick jump from the wife's car and I had a rumbling 4-cam, 32-valve monster in the driveway.

Now that the car is running well and I have a functioning window, cleanup day is finally here. I'll give it a good wash and polish, and post some real pics. And I'll do some more driving.

Finally got out the cleaning supplies and went to town. A good wash and wax and it looks much better, but the paint still needs help. I may go to a pro detailer and have him really bring it back. But in the meantime it looks pretty good. I also took my wife for her first ride in it and she likes it too. Later this afternoon I'll pick up my daughter from her band competition, and she's definitely the "car girl" of the school. Should be fun.

The interior and engine are still dirty but I'll get to those next. The plan is to drive a lot, debug all the little stuff, and slowly bring it back to what it should be.
