Improved Fuel Pressure Regulator

Just completed installation of the IFPR on a 1990 ZR-1 #3032 and 1990 ZR-1 #2067.
The Performance is identical to the IFPR in the 1990 ZR-1 #72 and the 1995 ZR-1 #186.
(I have installed four Improved Fuel Pressure Regulators all of which perform perfectly).

When you are installing the Improved Fuel Pressure Regulator, also install the New Secondary Port Throttle Vacuum System for zero vacuum leaks and the Rebuilt 124 Amp O'Reilly's Alternator.

how do we procure one?

Re: Potential Fuel Pressure Regulator Solution

Jeff,
I will be glad to do one for you however, I will need your core as I do not have any extras myself. $165 covers a new Delphi FP10016 regulator, machine work, necessary seals, hardware and assembly. Return shipping and insurance runs around $15. Turnaround time is 2 to 3 days provided family or work obligations don't get in the way.

Re: Potential Fuel Pressure Regulator Solution

I sent Phil a spare regulator to have done, I put it on a week ago and drove it once to check it out. Pressures are right where they should be, I found a broken u-joint on a 1/2 shaft so I need to swap that out before taking it out for a long ride. I think I've had the upper off a few too many times, took less than a hour to swap out. Thanks again Phil!

Rich - you're just going to have to cut back on those full throttle launches!😉

Improved Fuel Pressure Regulator

One more ZR-1 with the Improved Fuel Pressure Regulator Installed. I also install new Secondary vacuum systems when I am under Plenum for ZERO vacuum leaks...Vacuum pump fires up when switch on and just does not come on again for a long long while :D

Thought I’d share here a few pics I put on my Instagram. Big thanks to Phil the regulator looks awesome and turnaround time was super fast even being in Canada 🇨🇦.

Pics of my old internals

Can see obvious signs of aging but who knows if and when it may have failed or started to affect function. Peace of mind that it’s brand new now :)

Lots of posts here about injector failure...…...as I also found out we now know part of the reason as that fuel from the Fuel Pressure Regulator is not filtered (those rust particles have to go somewhere and I doubt most can pass through the injectors) ;)

I have replaced ALL Fuel Pressure Regulators with the Phil Modified Fuel Pressure Regulator and if the injectors have not failed yet, they will now last a very long time.

Not to revive an old thread, but are these rebuilt FPR's still offered? I am in need of one...

Are you able to do another FBR. I am in need of one and can send old one immediately. Tried to PM but wouldn't go through. Thanks, Roy

Yes, I can do one for you.

Re: Potential Fuel Pressure Regulator Solution

I received my regulator from Phil yesterday, and just wanted to share what a beautifully made piece it is. It's engineering art. Ettore Bugatti would have happily used one on his cars. So not only will my engine bay be more beautiful, but also I'll not have to worry about FPR availability in the future.

Thanks, Phil!
