Re: Which Performance Chip do you have?

Some of the tuners will recalibrate their chips at least once free of charge, while others charge each and every time. As a matter of fact, one of the popular tuners charges extra to begin with if they take their existing chip off of the shelf and recalibrate it if you have headers. Their standard chip reduces fueling by half of the stock setting, but with headers they recommend you have the 6% rich fuel delivery, so they charge extra on top of their price to do it.

The question is did you take that into consideration when buying a chip from them?

Have you needed to have your chip recalibrated for any reason?

Re: Which Performance Chip do you have?

When I bought my car, the previous owner told me it had been chipped. I found it to be a "Corvette Consultant chip". I talked to the original owner to find out what the chip did and he said that the skip shift feature was all he could recall. I wanted to see what the latest factory chip did, so I bought one and now the skip shift is back, but the car runs so much better. It is staying in, and I'm getting a cags plug for the skip shift elimination.

I bought my car in May of 05. I knew that it had a chip in it, as the fellow that I bought it from stated so. However, he did not know what chip it had, as the guy he bought it from had it installed. Well, I just got off the phone with this previous owner and found out that it is a DRM (Doug Rippie) chip. Now, I don't know the difference between these chips, but from the poll it looks like a popular chip. I do know that the car runs great!

I'm pretty sure mine is stock, but the car does have a manual fan switch and remote access that are aftermarket so maybe the chip was also swapped out

Is there an easy way to tell if its stock ? I know the power key isn't bypassed but never thought to check until now

Mine is z-industries. Does anyone know who that is or if they are still in business?

I've done a little research but with no real results.

I just put in a Haibeck chip. It worked just as it was advertised. Mark is the man.:worship:

I missed this post otherwise I would have given you the information.
Z-Industries is owned by Ron Zimmer and was located at 18032-C Lemon Dr., Yorba Linda, CA 92686. However I believe he moved his operation to Temecula, CA. I do not have a current phone# for him, but you may want to try contacting Carrol Shelby International since Ron has done work with them on occasion. I believe their # is 310-914-1843

Ron had a great reputation as a top notch tuner so your Z-Industries chip should be one of the better ones out there.

Thanks, That's very helpful, I've always wondered about it. My car runs awesome, never felt like I needed a better tune.

Thanks again,

Rick =) :thumbsup: :cheers:
