Awesome! I am in Lafayette! Exciting to see that there is another Z in my area! Only time I have seen one other than mine was in 2017 at a local Vette show. Thanks! The 13 and 19 ZR1?s are Dads but I couldn?t resist posting all 3 of them together. 3 Camaro?s are project cars that we have been working on all year. |

Hin532 great collection of cars. I also have a love of cars with my dad. He bought 3 new c4 zr1?s, he no longer owns any of them but he has a 69 chevelle ss and a 93 convertible c4. He is more into older trucks and blazers now. I have owned corvettes since I was 18.

OK I have resisted this thread for many years but I now have time on my hands so here I am. Other than the Z06 (Sorry no more ZR-1s) my main interest is toy trains. Specifically, Lionels from the year 1950. Like the ones I had as a kid but which my mother gave away to the church when I was at college. In the early '90s I was having lunch with a friend who said he was cleaning out his garage and found a set of his father-in-law's Lionel trains that he was selling. I asked him to tell me about them and they sounded very much like what I had, so I asked if I could buy them. They turned out to all be from the year 1950 and included several really good engines and lots of accessories so I brought them home and set up my first of four layouts over three houses. Everything was carefully wrapped in newspaper dated July 14, 1954. I continued to add to the collection over the years, focusing only on the year 1950. The layout I have now, while nowhere near as big and detailed as Jim Voter's layout, is perfect for me. It is only 11' x 11' but I can run three trains at once and everything that I own is on the layout--no shelves. It is not heavily detailed and is built "old school", meaning minimal electronic items, just the way one would have built it in the '50s. As I often say, it is a layout that any eight year old would be proud of. I have good running examples of 80% of the items listed in Lionel's 1950 catalogue (which I also have). I do all my own maintenance, repairs and rebuilds. The current layout was even the subject of a four page story in the May 2018 issue of Classic Toy Trains magazine which focuses mostly on "O" gauge trains. Anyway, it requires about a month's worth of maintenance in the winter and keeps me off the street. --Bob
