Re: Corvettes at Carlisle, 2022

Get there EARLY is good advice!
Use the map feature on your phone to find the "secret
routes" to gate 3. Avoid the main routes, Rt11 etc., look for side streets etc.
South and North Pitt St is a good example, it parallels the main route, Carlisle Spring Rd and Clay St from downtown and has little traffic. It ends right across the street from gate 3 on the round-a-bout.
If you don't mind some dust on your car, there's the back gate (#?)
it's off Calvary Rd near the PA Trnpk overpass. Calvary Rd is a right turn off Rt11 just as you're entering Carlisle from the East. You'll need your windshield
sticker and some of it's a dirt road but it brings you out at the top of the hill
near the Registry's tent (if it's located where it usually is) Pretty much you're guaranteed no traffic any time going in this way...

Looks like I'll be able to make Saturday after all, will be my first CaC. Won't be bringing the ZR-1 most likely though, not road legal at the moment among other things. Hope to see some of the registry members there!

First day early is very little traffic. later in the event, mid day and later you'll be sitting for a while. I'm not a morning person, nor is my wife so we just leave the car at the field. Works best for us is all.

Did we make 50?

Re: Corvettes at Carlisle, 2022

ZR-1 Net Registry members rock! We made the minimum 50 registrants by the July 11 cutoff date. In fact, we got to 62! That qualifies us for the larger 30 X 20 tent in the funfield next to our designated parking area.

Now we can look forward to a great event at Carlisle Aug 24-27. Let's hope for great weather.

Thanks to everyone that registered. I look forward to seeing everyone in late August.

It will be nice to see everyone. Is that a bigger tent than we had last year?

Can we get some air conditioning this year....:)

Cant wait for my very first Corvettes of Carlisle event! How did I ever stay away for 40 years? I'm REALLY honored to have my Z included in the Callaway display for their 35th anniversary, we have to even out those TT iron block cars. :-)

Looking forward to seeing other members Z's and putting user names w/ faces. safe travels everyone!

Just back from overseas and my envelope for Carlisle was waiting in my pile of mail. Picked up a box of 25 Romeo Y Julieta at the airport in Doha that I will bring with me to share with my brothers!

The ZR-1 just made trip from Preston CT to West Chester PA with no hiccups. Should be able to make it to Carlisle for at least one of the weekend days this year. Can't wait.

I was just looking over the schedule. Anyone done the autocross in the past? I have done several autocross and there are some clubs that I like doing it with and some that I don?t depends on how well they organize it and how long you have to wait.

They will not care, all are welcome but you will need to park outside the fairgrounds. Lots of parking close by and walk in. You are welcome in the ZR-1 Net Registry tent, will have food, drinks and chairs available.

Yes they will Charlie, but no point in spoiling the fun for Erik. A related story from a galaxy a long, long time ago: In college one year I worked a summer job as a mechanic and driver at Ford's Dearborn test track. I drove a 1965 Chevrolet Corvair and parked in the employee parking lot. Not much was actually said about it, but when my clutch cable broke and I had to fix it in the parking lot, I didn't get one offer of assistance. Lucky to get it home that day, and lucky to avoid people throwing rocks on the way out. --Bob

I've not done the autocross there, Steve, but I observed it about four years ago. It seemed to be well organized and like the downtown parade, it is something probably worth doing once.

By the way, all, we have 66 registrants (cars), so not a bad showing. It won't be enough to take top spot in the club participation award since I know of at least one other club that has more, but we may still get a "podium finish". Regardless, that may ZR-1 owners is more than enough to have a lot of fun which is what this is all about.

Safe travels all!

This was my engine bay 2 weeks ago, so I've had a bit of a last minute thrash as well. Luckily, I'm only in the office 3 days a week so I've been able to put in 35-40hr/week in the garage to get everything accomplished "while I was in there".

Good news is yhe full R134a conversion was a success & I finished the paint last weekend so I can focus on the servicing the Dmaxx before I leave town on monday for the 3250 mile round trip. This will be my first Carlisle event and I'm really looking forward to it.

How far away is ?outside the Fairgrounds?? Funny, they let me right in at the SAAC event. :)

Parking is right across the street, both General parking and people will let you park in their front yards for a fee........about $20/day. Several are driving down from New England. Steve is from NH, maybe join up with some of them and caravan down together?

Re: Corvettes at Carlisle, 2022

Glad your all set Steve, looking forward to seeing you. I am going to pick up batch 1 of 3 pork shoulders today at Costco and start cooking tomorrow, then get the next batch and cook Tuesday and then the final batch and finish Wednesday night. Drive up with 75-80 lbs of pulled pork Thursday morning where we eat what was cooked on Monday and so on. Tried to be proactive and change out the fuel pumps to the Delphi units that have the ridge on the outlet port. Plus installed Carter's machined triangle piece in place of the stock plastic unit. Even got new stainless steel clamps. Only problem was getting the assembly back in after the change out. Fought with it for an hour, it just would not get back in.........got pissed and manhandled it and forced it back.......I know it was way to much force, bent or broke something or maybe cut a wire. Now my gas gauge is stuck on 3/4 of a tank. Filled it up and 0 out the trip so I can keep track and not run out of gas. If this cannot be fixed, might have to go with the new single pump conversion. We will see. Anyhow, for now, just have to focus on the food, can't mess that up! See you all soon.

Re: Corvettes at Carlisle, 2022

Great, now I'm hungry. See you Thursday. I need to avoid Hartford CT between 7 and 9. That means I leave at 4 or 6. See what time I wake up.
That single pump conversion is a work of art. I just don't remember who built it.

This will be my first Carlisle and I haven't been to a Gathering in a few years. Loading up the Admiral today since I have to work Monday and Tuesday and will make my way up Wednesday. Quasar had not been out of garage since returning from Gathering. I popped in a rear wheel hub yesterday that was making noise. I will wipe her down in the Magnuson parking lot.

Manual says 160 lb-ft but Chevrolet later revised king nut torque for manual C4s to 190 lb-ft. Otherwise, it will develop clicking sound starting in 1st or reverse.
