WARNING!! Eberts Engine Service results in a strong warning from Norton Internet Security. Do not click this link, especially if you do not have Internet Malware Protection.
Also, AutoMasters of Bowling Green weblink is no longer viable. Jim VanDorn, shop owner, passed away & Automasters is closed. South Georgia Corvette URL is not working. Aaron Scott/South Georgia Corvette is on Facebook. Quote:

I know this might be a sore subject for some but...
Is Jeff Flint still active with Pacific Northwest ZR-1 near Seattle? H  |
Re: New Owners/National list of Z Shops
Thanks for the warning! I edited my post to remove those links. I just copied and pasted what I had from years ago and didn't check the links before posting.

Re: New Owners/National list of Z Shops
Anyone know of any ZR1 shops in Southern Ontario Canada that can work on our cars.

Re: New Owners/National list of Z Shops
I had lunch with Aaron Scott from South Georgia Corvettes a week ago and I am happy to announce that South Georgia Corvettes is open and back in business. After a brief closing for personal reasons Aaron assured me that he was back and eager to provide whatever services is needed to the Corvette community. He will be updating his website shortly and his contact number ls 1-229-403-7009. He is at his original location in Thomasville Georgia. I do believe this is good news for the Vette community in and around the southern United States.

Re: New Owners/National list of Z Shops
I second the opinion that Aaron Scott is a first class Corvette (LT5) mechanic.
And a good guy too. I was on my way to BG for the "Gathering", one time way back in the last century. I had a failure in the ZF6, (long story), and limped in to Aaron's shop. Within a couple of hours he popped in a spare ZF6 that he had in the shop, and shipped my trans out for a rebuild. I got to Bowling Green on time, and then home with no problem. He let me use the trans until mine came back. Great guy. A word of warning for any shop listed here though. Many of these places have had "up and down" reputations over the years. Because of staff changes, and because of the fact that the LT5 is, in many ways an "orphan engine", not the "latest and greatest" anymore, But mainly because their reputation depends on the personal integrity of one individual, and that can vary over the years for multiple reasons. One of the shops listed, rated at the very highest level by many , gave me the most horrendous service ever. But they have obviously cleaned up their act since, and I don't think it's fair to criticize after a long time period. When in doubt, ask for current opinion from the guys on this list. BTW, one more shop to mention, in Florida, "Eismann's Corvette Center" here in Jupiter. They've been building, restoring, and servicing Corvettes for more than forty years. I don't go there regularly any more because of high labor costs, but they do know their Corvettes, and LT5's, since day one. |

Re: New Owners/National list of Z Shops
Just wanted to say thanks for posting the list. Didn't know there was a LT5 shop out by Poulsbo, WA on the tier 1 list no less.
I visited Tony's Corvette last summer while getting another vehicle worked on down the street. He seemed a little hesitant to do anything other than basic bolt-ons. He even had a 91 ZR-1 sitting out that needed a good home. He seems to be more invested with newer Vettes and restoring the classic Gen 1 and 2s. My experience with Corvette Mike wasn't great either, but just some email communication. I was looking for a Mosler MT900, ended up contacting Warren Mosler directly. I'm looking forward to GM coming out with the DOHC turbo engines for the upcoming Corvettes and Cadillac's. That may increase the shops that will work on our older DOHC LT5 motors. |

Although very humble the Wazoo guys have built several engines, pulls and installs included, numerous injector plenum pulls, clutches trannys, and just about anything you can think of taking apart with few exceptions. I'd wager that even with a break for a brew or two and pizza many hands make light work and the price of admission is a smile, a handshake, and a desired to get your hands dirty. Highly recommend it. A Wazoo graduate is Demps who went "all in" and has one of the nicest shop in the areas. Phil is one of the most advanced engineers I know and has invested much of his time into preserving and improving his Z which is quite spectacular. I hope to sneak a few more ponies out of the LSV. I heat cycled it a few too many times and blew a rad hose and soon after a head gasket. Should have parked it but it got hot a few times about a year ago. Fast forward, it shot some water out the $6 so it was time to tear it down. Mostly from what I learned hands on at wazoo I went solo on the engine pull and took the engine straight to Demps. We also work with Lloyd who does some quality machine work and knows his way around liners and honing and does lots of dohc ford work so he's not afraid of a few extra valves. As to the post above. I believe Aaron Scott is back in business in Ga. Although I haven't been up there in a while Vette Doctors mostly doing late model stuff but know there way around an LT5 Ron has some builders in Las Vegas, of course Jerry's Gaskets in Ok City, and there are many more. Good thread.:dancing:Eagle: |

He has a beautiful garage in Thomasville, Ga At the current time he has 8 or 9 cars in the shop. The quality of his work is unbelievable. He will not do something that isn't done to a very high standard. He is also a very nice guy and has no problem sharing his knowledge. Please if your anywhere close just go check out his shop you will be nothing but impressed. Thank you, Tom Sent from my SM-G950U using ZR-1 Net Registry mobile app |

Re: New Owners/National list of Z Shops
Do we know if any in the Raleigh, NC area who is a respectful LT5 ZR1 mechanic if I should need one. I have a C4 1990 ZR1 DRM 500 Vette

Re: New Owners/National list of Z Shops
I have always resorted to Hendrick Chevrolet in Cary. They have a few older mechanics that are good. I usually, let them diagnose the problem (if it isn’t obvious to me) and then hunt down the part on the Internet. They’ve installed my water pump and alternator I bought.
If it is running OK, bring it to Aaron Scott at South Georgia Corvettes. About 5 hours from here. Stay in the left lanes in SC, because 95 is terrible in that State! Sent from my iPhone using ZR-1 Net Registry |
Re: New Owners/National list of Z Shops
Any thoughts on Austin Corvette? I took my C6 there when I had it and had a good experience. They seem to work on a lot of C4s but not sure about ZR-1s.
Henderson is right down the road in New Braunfels but if I had a shop an Uber ride away from me it would help me feel more confident in my decision to buy a Z :) |

Re: New Owners/National list of Z Shops
Having Corey in New Braunfels and Steve (Crossed Flags) in Magnolia is about as good as it gets. Steve has an enclosed trailer and can do pickup/delivery (for a charge of course), but is well worth it to not have to deal with it. C4 ZR-1s are fairly reliable once they are in a good state and as long as you exercise them regularly. I can definitely attest that Steve @ Crossed Flags does great, thorough work and would take care of you.

Re: New Owners/National list of Z Shops
IMHO
Graham Behan should have his own special status above all the rest. His depth of knowledge with the LT5 is far beyond anyone else. From being involved with design to modification I can not think of anyone who comes near his depth of understanding and attention to detail. I am sure many shops here have called him for information. That is where my car is and I know I have nothing to worry about. He even Repaired pieces from another shops work. Found all the missing parts I did not get.fixed damaged electrical fx3 and the like. He is the guy. He is worth the drive. Robin |
Re: New Owners/National list of Z Shops
Where is he located
|
Re: New Owners/National list of Z Shops
KENTUCKY
Graham Behan, KY email only : grahambehan@yahoo.com Not real sure about this guy, but they say he "wrote the LT5 book" This is of course a joke. Graham was a senior engineer for Lotus who supervised the LT5 development into a production engine. He did, literally write the book & has mentored virtually every top tier shop listed here. |

Re: New Owners/National list of Z Shops
South Georgia Corvette, Aaron Scott owner. Arron worked on my car just before the C4 Gathering this year. New injectors, hot chip, all fluids changed and a general check over so I could enjoy the trip. This shop is a Tier 1 shop plus. Aaron is on of a few shops that fabricated a twin turbo LT5. He knows the LT5 inside and out. On numerous occasions GM top brass has not only inspected his shop. Seen all his cars but drove the twin turbo. If you just need maintenance or a high performance ZR1 save yourself a lot of aggravation and talk to Aaron.
To top it all Aaron is a really nice guy. Sent from my SM-G950U using ZR-1 Net Registry mobile app |
Re: New Owners/National list of Z Shops
Aaron Scott is a first class ZR-1 tech, and a great guy.
Top this- On a trip from South Fla. To the Gathering in BG, I had problems with my ZF6 trans. I limped into his shop in S. Georgia thinking I would never make the Gathering. He dropped what he was doing and pulled the trans., shipped it to Bill B. for a rebuild, LENT me a ZF6 he had on the shelf, and got me back on the road again. I got to BG and then home with no problems. When my trans got back I went up to his shop and he re-installed it. No charge, except for the time to do the trans swaps. If only I lived closer to South Georgia, no one would touch my car except Aaron Scott. Sent from my iPhone using ZR-1 Net Registry |
Re: New Owners/National list of Z Shops
Looking for someone near Nashville TN. I tried Freedom Cars and number is not in service. I just need some "minor" repairs, mostly help with oil leaks and some general maintenance.
Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks! |
