Re: '91 ZR1 different Mufflers and Control Arms?
92 White, White #0448.
I bought it dead stock with 18k miles from the original owner. Still had the original gatorbacks on it. Sent from my Pixel 4a (5G) using ZR-1 Net Registry mobile app |

Then were on the same page. I bought mine with 9,000 miles on it. The original owner already put rectangular LT1 muffler eliminators on it. I also have my original gy gator back tires with 9,000 miles on them.

Re: '91 ZR1 different Mufflers and Control Arms?
I believe, starting in 92, all C4s including ZR-1s wer fitted with black rectangular exhaust tips. My 94 had rectangular tips from factory.

Re: '91 ZR1 different Mufflers and Control Arms?
Yes rectangular outlet mufflers started in 1992 on c4's (LT1's) but according to general motors corporation they were never put on a LT5's And there's no documentation in the general motors parts catalog that says different.

Re: '91 ZR1 different Mufflers and Control Arms?
I definitely respect all the knowledge in these forums and mean zero disrespect in this post. This is what I've seen and read:
Regular C4s: - '84s had downturned exhaust, two circular tips per muffler - '85-'91 had straight out the back, two circular tips per muffler - '92-'96 had rectangular tips, one per side; incidentally, 4th gen Z28s had the same-shaped tips, '93-'02 ZR-1s: - '89 prototypes had two square tips per side - '90-'91 had two square tips per side - '92-'95 had rectangular tips, one per side The most interesting thing I've observed... I have a '96 LT4 I bought completely stock, and a '95 ZR-1 that is still all stock (5900 miles)... the ZR-1 exhaust (mine at least, and other rectangular ZR-1s I've seen)... is at a bit of an angle on each side. It's very slight, but noticeable. At first I thought mine was bent, until I looked at other ones more closely and saw a local '93 in person as well. Really weird compared to the stock exhaust on my '96! I have not, however, measured the widths of the LT1/4 vs. ZR-1 rectangular tips. They may be the same, and I wonder if the slight angle of the ZR-1 tips was to make them appear to fit the wider rear end better. Mike |
Re: '91 ZR1 different Mufflers and Control Arms?
I've been a ZR-1 owner for 20 years now.
Every last 1992 through 1995 ZR-1 I've ever seen has had the square tips. I like them so much that someday I plan to cut the oval tips off of the Flowmasters I have on my Z and weld on the square tips. I love the sound of my Flowmasters, just have never liked their tips very much. They are way better than the stock 90-91 tips, but still not optimal. Crabs |

Just to make sure that I'm correct. We're talking about (LT1) style Rectangle tip mufflers.. is that correct?Attachment 20011
